When you go on some lame ass kids blog and it says that he/shes been listening to boc? I just went on this chick i knows last fm and right next to "whos eating at chilis on tuesday?" there was an iLike application with a few boc tracks. I just hate consumerist ass kids listening to good music because its some new hip to them.

no, music can be personal. boards of canada is released to the masses. I disagree that only some people get the privilege to listen because others aren't special enough. what makes all of you think you are any different? who cares if someone is listening to boc on last.fm. it's releasead all over the world. no hard feelings, but I disagree

I'm not saying only an elite group should listen to it, what I AM saying is that you shouldn't act cool or sophistecated about it (e.g. the girl on Last FM)

Although I think all music should be enjoyed by whoever wants to listen to it, I do get upset when people listen to it for the mainstream reasons. For example, when I went to a Tool concert (Yes, I like Too as well) a few months back, I saw so many people just getting drunk and being assholes. I hate when people say they listen to music "cause it sounds cool", people who don't open themselves up to the music, and just listen because "it's a cool beat" or "crazy drum/guitar/whatever solo". It's upsetting when the majority of the artists fanbase consists of people who are not really accepting the music for it's full potential. Which is probably why most mainstream music sucks, cause it gives the common listener what they want...which is absolutely nothing but a catchy tune.

I hear ya.....its inevitable that there are things that we hold as deep, important, and sacred things to us, and as soon as a group of these people who do this form, other people join for the image.

I love Tool, as I love BoC, because the music means so many things to me on many different levels. When someone comes and just flings around "yeah I like Tool, they are pretty cool" it really pisses me off. Its not their fault they don't treat it like Jesus, but we can't help but feel like they are insulting our god....
