I saw a thread like this in another forum and thought it would be interesting to see what everyone does here.
I read gas meters for Trace Services (sub-contractor for Columbia Gas)

Pros: I can smoke cigs whenever I want, I have a company vehicle and don't have to pay for gasoline, if I get done with my route early I can go home and I get paid for 8 hrs. no matter what.

Cons: I have to be outside for about 90% of the day working in extreme cold/heat/rain/snow/etc., getting bit by strange dogs, it's physically exhausting (tons of walking), if someone calls off I have to make up their route, getting up at 6 A.M., dealing with traffic jams all day, and going in absolutely disgusting basements to read meters. (you would be shocked to see how some of these people live)

well, up until 2 weeks ago i made the blades for massive wind turbines which i quite enjoyed. then me and about 100 other people were made redundant. tomorrow i start my new job 'fairing yatchs'. ive never done it b4 but ill be doing this in france for a while all expenses paid so im quite happy. i better brush up on my french.

Wow, that sounds like interesting stuff. Not your average everyday office job, that's for sure!

I work at an insect zoo! I tour people around a building full of insects and spiders, hold them and tell people all about them!

That would be sweet! I've alwways had an interest in creepy bugs and spiders.

I fix/built/destroy/rebuild two wheel human powered vehicles, better known as bicycles. I also run Relapse Bmx Clothing. Sometimes work as a Trek Team mechanic during the summer season. It's an pretty good gig, especially traveling to races. We take our team (Relapse Bmx) out on road trips about 2 times a year and that can get totally out of hand. All and all it is fun.

I work as a sound engineer and technician for City College Manchester. Im one of a team of 3 who look after, run and maintain the recording studios, midi suites, rehearsal spaces etc. We also have a commercial studio in which we are hired to engineer and record clients, bands etc that book studio time with us. We also have a nice PA which me and my mate hire out, so we do a lot of gigs, live engineering. Absolutely love it. The senior technician is my best mate and our boss is Martin Moscrop who is a member of A Certain Ratio (ACR) ((who loves to party)) We work hard and play harder!! He pretty much leaves us to it as he knows we get the job done well.
Oh and pretty much round the clock access to some very nice studios, for free!!!

Haha, yeah I totally forgot about that part. I have'nt seen that for ages.

I work in a DIY store as a salesman. I work there for quite some years now including the time I only did it part-time.
I worked on every department by now and the job is still challenging. There is still so much new stuff to learn, evenso because my company bought another DIY company which went bankrupt about 5 years ago. And this company also had a garden centre, so that's totally new for me.

I always wondered what I would do for a living and never really thought about this option until they offered me a full-time job. The most coolest thing of it all is that the job is extremely varied and that makes the time pass by very quick , plus it's very healthy as I walk about 5-10km a day.

DJ/Graphic Designer/Apprentice Piercer

OK... I work Mon-Fri 8 hours a day as a Graphic Designer, but it's flexitime (which means I can work any 8 hours I want during that day i.e 7-3 or 10-6. Or I can work say 7-7, build up overtime, then have the time off the following day or whenever I want, If I keep building up overtime time, I can have whole days off) The graphic designing that I do is for a religious book publications company in south-east England, I have been there 6 months, after moving back to the UK from living with my father in Sydney Australia (there I did funature delivery, which was nice because I got t drive around and see a lot of Sydney) On Saturday nights I DJ at my local club (it's not great, but I can get drunk and walk home) Unfortunatly though, It's very difficult to have free rein on the choice of music I play, all the other DJ's only really play house music, and thats sort of all I'm allowed. So I've had to buy a few records that I would otherwise have picked up, I managed to get away with Nlogax twice anyway. And once, Everything You Do Is A Balloon as the last song of the night. So for £100, I cant complain. The Apprentice Piercer job is Saturdy's 10-6, I start tomorrow, so wish me luck...

It went well, fired coffee across the shop as a result of putting it in front of the till, luckily the brunt of it hit my white Ralf Lauren trousers, so great. covered my Boards of Canada T-shirt in someone else’s blood, even greater! I think this week I’ll go naked… actually the coffee might burn. Maybe just wear black. Yes, that’ll be better, wear black.

well i was just let go from my job on monday last. so lookin for work too. Dont know why i was let go....

I'm unemployed too.... glad I'm not alone. If any of you are employers living in the Phoenix area, PM me cause I need work.

I need to fly my girlfriend out here at some point. Unemployment sucks.
