Recently I found out that I like games more when they're beautifull. Not in the sense of "good graphics" but in a sense of...beautifull landscapes and enourmous atmosphere. I have some favourites

Myst (all of 'em)
Uru (loooove)
Noctis (must play!!)
Beyond good and evil
Freelancer
SSX 3
And allot more...but I can't think of 'em...

Any suggestions?

oh man, check out AQUARIA. it is beautiful and awesomely fun. ecco the dolphin+metroid!!!
its an 'indie' game so its not getting any press coverage. but it is AWESOME. heres the website: http://www.bit-blot.com/aquaria/

I love SSX3. It has stunning environments. Love going off piste and the radio integration is great with some banging tunes. Probably one of my top games of all times. *goes off to play*

I checked out the demo...and it was nice, but it got a little boring a little to quick

i like turning off the radio and using the "mountain ambiance" feature it sounds so much cooler in my opinion.

i havent played the actual game, but my problem with the demo is you spend most of it doing nothing... a demo maybe in the middle of the game at a more exciting part would have been better.

some other beautiful games: chrono cross, odin sphere, mario galaxy, shenmue, phantasy star online, FF12, the longest journey (!), rayman 1+2, the lunar games, bioshock and......thats all i can think of right now off the top of my head. but beauty is important in a video game... i mean, they are a visual medium, so beauty only helps immerse you in the environment.

ME TOO MAN! ME TOO! Wow that takes me back. Those things were so bulky. Good idea in principle though. CDs aren't likely to get scratched in those things.

haha its funny that was mentioned. i remember having an old mac that used those. but yesterday i was looking through a friends cd collection and he was keeping one of his cds in one of those cases. those things are so cool looking... the 80s were so futuristic!

the final fantasy series usually has quite amazing scenery. heavenly sword. the cinematography in the metal gear solid series is incredible. Some levels in the Soul Calibur series. HUGE agreement with Shadow of the Colossus and ICO. Okami was amazing. Myst for sure, despite the frustration and anger some of the games in that series have caused me. Ninja Gaiden had great scenery as well, more so in the PS3 remake. Oblivion was great for that.

Ultimately Crysis takes the trophy home for this one. The most amazing scenery, with complete interaction. But that may be the brand spanking new graphics talking (the utter realism).

I agree with Shadow of the Colossus, a beautiful game. Unfortunately I never played ICO. Oblivion is similar in some ways, although slightly more realistic in its surroundings.

More recently, parts of Assassin's Creed are beautiful, particularly the detail and vastness of the cities.

What makes a game beautiful for me is the surroundings (usually countryside). However, games such as Bioshock are beautiful in a different sense, if only due to the amount of attention to detail that has been invested in the design.

ICO and Shadow of the Colossus are both the epitome of 'beautiful'. Probably the closet to the 'nostalgia feeling' you get in a BoC album.

Has anyone played Test Drive Unlimited? Although it's really a different style of game, and of course it is a racing game, driving around the island of Oahu Hawaii is very beautiful. I only wish you could get out of the car and go exploring.

Fourth game in The Elder Scrolls Series. I personally liked Morrowind more than Oblivion...

But I love making landscapes in SimCity 4, sometimes even more than making cities!

There's a crapton of mods out there too so you're not left with just plain ol' grass and mountains.
