I've been listening to his album "Symbol," which is amazing. this guy doesn't seem to get enough recognition. he does everything, minimalist, techno, ambient, classical... all ace

I've been wanting to get into his music, what album would you recommend for me to start on?

Sakura seems to be the most popular, but Symbols and Grinning Cat are also very accessible

The Image 1983- 1998 album is great. Old grainy recordings of guitar, piano, organ, wierdness etc. Some amazing haunting/ beautiful some absurd quirky
Sakura is very good too

I love Susumu's work and yes I agree he is underrated. The first album I heard was The Boy and the Tree. It is absolutly amazing and it got me hooked straight away. He is the reason I have been "unfaithful" to BoC these days...

honestly i didn't like any of his other work outside of "acid mt. fuji", however that record is insanely great in terms of plastikman-esque ambient techno.

Lo Recordings have also been reissuing a bunch of his works on vinyl over the past year or so. I grabbed a few of 'em and, I have to say, they are exceptionally done. Very well presented.

Subject to change over time, but I think I can confidently say that "Will" and "Zero" are at the bottom, and "Greenpeace" is a definite #1 spot. Given how genre-fluid he was, It's difficult to definitively say which is better than the other. I'm actually still not completely done with his stuff. I haven't yet listened to Anima Beat or his Ebi albums.
"Zero" was actually the first album of his that I ever listened to, so it's kinda disappointing to see it end up at the bottom.

Always loved Sakura, particularly 'Kodomotachi', been obsessed with that track for a while.
