old tunes v1: track 6 appreciation thread

I love it, what can I say. Just like with hiscores from the officially released EP, the slow beat (particularly the bass) carries the entire track like a mellow, intense heart beat.
This is the epitome of dreamlike music. The faint, far-away voices. Everytime I listen to them it feels like it could be a recollection of past memories. AWESOME! Proper Release pls!!!

Definately one of the best old tunes tracks.
Love that eerie sample from 'seven forty seven'.
I can imagine this track going on for longer. Its been faded out i recon.
Would love to know its proper title..

hey! it's great to know this beautiful piece is cherrished by others as well.
Do you know by chance if the samples used are all taken from one source?

I'm sorry but I just find that track kind of boring.
It's just a slow beat, nothing really happens.
I much like the track after it more.
Phasered guitar. \m/

isn't that kind of a boc'ish trait? if you strip them off their voice sampling, what you get is ambient sounds with the occasional drum beat.

I think it's a bit TOO quiet.
Unless I'm thinking of the wrong track.
It is about 4:57, right?

it is a lovely track...it has an end of summer feel to it personally. the last night of the long summer, the sunset paints a picture in the sky for the last time before the darkness of winter creeps in...
too much coffee...

I love this track and have fallen asleep to it mixed with biosphere's substrata for over 5 years now every single night.
I second the love for the 747 sample along with the little voices that you can barely hear.
Lots of stuff happens in the song, you just have to listen really really closely to the little stuff in the background. For example: at 3:39 to 3:40 there is a voice in the background you can barely hear, but once you hear it, it goes soooo well with the song! You have to turn down the bass in the song to hear the rest of it. boost mid to high range sounds as well. You won't be disappointed.

747music is right, its all those little, barely recognizable voices or sounds that you can hear in the background that make this track incredibly atmospheric.
and yes its the one that clocks in at 4.57! but it is slow, I suppose thats not for everyone.

Pure awesome.
However, I've never played a boc album as much as Old Tunes. :3

It's such a beautiful track
That fact that the greatest song ever recorded is only available as a poor-quality MP3 on soulseek says a lot about this world...

Cupz made a pretty cool video using this track along with a couple others.
How can you forget tracks 12 & 13?

I'd like to see this video.
And you can't forget tracks 12 & 13, who would want to?

I agree, track 6 is amazing. The entire Old Tunes collection is, as a whole, stunningly beautiful. I love how almost all of the tracks have this dark undercurrent of foreboding, it's so subtle. I'm pretty much amazed that the collection hasn't seen an official release, this is hands down some of BoC's greatest work.

The background ambience is gorgeous, but I'm not a huge fan of the drum beat run through the 1-beat delay.

the beat is very monotonous but it is not covering up everything else despite its nature. like I said in my first post, I find, it rather resembles a heart beat, a wave sort of that carries all the other aspects along its back. I sometimes listen to it on my way to work or Uni and sometimes I find myself completely lost in this track. its amazing. and yes there are so many other tracks on this tape that are worth a proper release. here's to hoping that it will still happen.

i guess i have a funky copy of old tunes 1: the track in question here is just a few seconds long, a whispering synth at that...
edit: um, wrong side...lol
