Read all about it here.

A thank you goes out to Tiges for spreading this information by email. Apparently this news slipped under the radar for a while...

Don't know if I'm going to like this but they really deserved an opportunity like this.

Yuck! :/ The Sexual Objects sounds like shite! The singer has one of the worst annoying voices I heard....but with BOCs magic touch you never know what they can do...Brian Eno made even the new Coldplay sound good :D

Awful! awful! The lyrics are just horrible! the music is SHIT!!!!! (must be some of their friends or something)? And it says nothing about writing songs with them or something just producing, what do we know it can just be BOC passing by the studio saying "turn up the drums please"...nothing more, and they claiming "boc is in the studio producing a record for The Sexual Objects.....so nothing to get excited about really.

I think the topic title is a bit vague and not really 100%..."producing music for"...when the article just says "The Sexual Objects are currently in the studio working on tracks with the Boards of Canada on production duties." working on tracks with boc, not boc producing tracks for them...I think its just boc telling them some good production tips in the studio, nothing more nothing less you will see :P

Some may say 'turds cannot be polished'. I'm more open to the prospect. And to be honest I've not heard enough of SO to really comment, so am looking for more of their material to listen to. All links welcome including the samples already provided.

One of those good things about BoC. Through our journey with them we'll find things which we unexpectedly find to be fabulous. I ain't complaining.

Yes, they are actually horrible!!!!! crap!

I dont like "Why?" either, I think his voice is very annoying in general, but BOC just killed that remix (such a awesome track!), with a splendid 2min instrumental outro. Don't like Beck, but the broken drum is one of my alltime favourite tracks...etc etc so you never know, but this band seems like a bad joke..."oh! look! we have funny sexual lyrics with a funny name lol we are very funny!" I hate unserious music (I probably sound like jerk, nevermind me :P).

BOC also likes that awful band Ween so you never know...what I mean is I hate music that makes fun of music...I love it when someone takes music serious and lately BOC seems fucking annoying making fun of people who took Geogaddi serious (why shouldn't we!?!? :/). Its suppose to be serious art isn't it? I hope BOC aint about gimmick...and that they are dead serious in what they do, not joking around having fun. I just got a baaaad baaaad feeling that the new record will be poppy and funny a la Ween (that would be a horrible chock)...:( im worried now, dunno why (wish they will take that Cocteau Twins, My Bloody, Fennesz, Basinski route instead!!!!).

I'll say three things here.

1) I've not heard the Sexual Objects material yet.
2) BOC do seem to pick bands with - ahem - "distinctive" vocals. With the exception of Beck, every band they have remixed seems to have dreadful vocals. Clouddead, Why, and (apparently) these Sexual Object guys too. Actually, I've put a caveat in here. The Why single they remixed - I actually liked the vocals on very much, but their other material was just dreadful and a real disappointment.
3) I've never picked up any hint that BOC don't take their "proper" work seriously. Sure, they like an in-joke it seems, and I'm sure they probably find it amusing how seriously some people took Geogaddi etc., but I don't get any impression that they aren't serious.

However, whether or not these side-projects are anything more the distractions and a bit of fun remains to be seen. I'm guessing they are little more than a welcome break from the 100% serious business of working on the next album. After all, all BOC and no play makes Mike and Marcus very dull and bored boys, I'm sure...

Davey Henderson is a bit of a legend so this is quite interesting news. People should probably investigate his work before making negative comments...

Man, that band sucks dick for dimebags. I can barely listen to that stuff :( It makes me think of high school girls getting drunk off wine coolers.

The two clips on Boomkat sound pretty ordinary? I don't dislike them as such, but equally I wouldn't rush to listen to them again. His voice is mildly annoying mind you.

Still, different strokes for different folks I guess.

(A prize for the quickest post of a Gary Coleman comedy photo. Go!)

Do I care if he WAS a legend? Not really to be honest and if he was a legend, he just ruined (his reputation) it all by releasing that super wack mini EP, its just plain garbage, detest it (full penetration!? Solange is better than that)...

I want to hear the art not the gimmick.

jeez man. i was expecting it to be terrible based on what youre saying. but really... its just rock/pop music. why so harsh? sure its not even close to BoC, but these songs dont have anything to do with them. also, we were told a while ago that theyd be working with a rock band with lyrics and such. but we were also told that they would be releasing their own material. so if the first bit is true, then im sure the second part is as well. im taking this as good news because at least we know they're still active! it will all be ok.

while i am always open for discussion on new topics, i cant help but agree with this sentiment.

my 2 cents?... i wish BoC would concentrate on their own material, or release some old stuff.
