Not sure if this really merits a new thread, so be gentle. I was just sat on the train staring out across a grey London this morning, listening to Everything You Do Is A Balloon on repeat. Still transfixed. It's not as if I haven't heard it a thousand times before, but there's something deeply hypnotic about it which I can't let go of. Trundling into the city and watching people go about their business and the monotony of the day, the whole track becomes this dark, foreboding thing, almost relentless in its passage. BoC never bore me like so many other bands do. There is always something new to hear in each piece.

I hardly listen to BoC anymore, and I'm frustrated about it. I like to think of it as "saving up" for my shroom trip this vacation.

I went for an interview at Warp back in '95 and I mentioned how EYDIAB was my fave track off Hi Scores and they said they pretty much signed them on the strength of that track alone.

I must admit, EYDIAB is probably my favourite BoC track. It's brilliant.

Agreed. I used to go skating around campus after dark with that tune on my headphones. It's got a hip hop beat that's accessible enough to be catchy and poppy, but it's drenched in melancholy.

Bingo. That's it, right there. It is supremely melancholic, feels like the beats are there to distract you from what's actually happening going on right under your nose. It's a beautiful thing.

I first read that as Warp signed Boards of the basis of EYD... being your favourite track off Hi Scores.

EYDIAB is the track that got me started on BoC years ago. It'll always have a special place with me. I've listened to it countless times and I'm still not sick of it.

I've had this one as an earworm at some time.

Yeah i love it.. that and Dawn chorus are my favourite "staring out of the train window" tracks. Beats reading the Metro anyway..

if i ever made a film i think EYDIAB would play over the opening credits. Oh, and it'd have zombies in it. probably.

yeah this one never tires me.

Watch Morven Caller. It was when i first heard Everything You Do Is A Ballon. Loved it.

And it's a good film too.

ive done that a few times, when a tune i discover captures my mood in life better than anything else at that moment, and nothing else fits my mood. a good example of this for me was when ciaran byrne leaked an unfinished version of "let down lee". i had that tune on repeat for days, just couldnt get enough of it. i've also done it with cedar city by plaid, as well. it doesnt happen to me very often.

Easy. If I want to live and breathe a piece of music I'm happy to play the same track for hours and hours at a time until both the mood of the song and my mood are in perfect sync. I don't think it's that uncommon..?

Man, the countless hours I listened to Olson on repeat...its unbelievable.

EYDIAB is right up there with ROYGBIV in terms of being one of their most brilliant melodies. It's almost a pop tune it's so memorable.
