I was sent the following message by e-mail:
i've got this boards of canada song called 'flash site,' it came in a torrent (i don't remember which)
i uploaded it here http://www.mediafire.com/?qhyzjjdyx3z
so i like it a whole lot and was wondering if you knew anything about it? i can't find any reference to a song called flash site by them anywhere, my guess would be it's a song they made for their site at one point?
I've never heard this. And this is most likely fake as it contains some obvious boc samples from their tracks, e.g. the seagulls from happy cycling.
---
DEBUNKED: This track is by Hills West. He made it for a 747 remix competition held by Archrival several years ago.

But the sounds on that site where in bad quality and this track here is in very good quality. So it could be the source of the atomless site loop or it's indeed a very good fake.

IMO - it's simply a mashup of the tunes from BoC's flash site. Done well, yes, but very easily user created.
The fidelity is not that great either...
That said, it's pretty dang good- but unless there was some secret place you could discover on the flash site that combined all of the elements, it's not BoC- again, IMO.
A quick breakdown (using the naming convention usually attributed to these tracks on Slsk):
747 (slightly manipulated, 0:00)
Trails ( 0:28 )
Unidentified sample, or possible user creation (1:21)
Time Apple (around 1:35)
Seagull (possibly from Happy Cycling)
Flutes (a possibly manipulated portion, towards the very end of the track)

He even can't as you don't know if he knows all of bocs music.

sounds like Wisp could've done this. Very fluent and relaxed like his others.

the sample at 1:21 is also in a track called "trails (from 2002 website)" which I downloaded long ago from df2k1's music directory.

I remember someone making all the samples from the old flash site available in a .zip file a few years back. this might be a mix that someone did using those. very well done, if so.

The flutes at the end appear to be from the beginning of the Old Tunes (Vol. 1 Side A) track, "Audiotrack 6". They have been sped up and raised in pitch slightly as far as I can tell.
