i saw somebody or two posting something about 11:11 on this board once upon awhile ago. what's your story? what do you know about it?

Once, I was abducted by an alien. This mysterious event happened... at 11:11.

when i was a kid, i used to get all hyped if i saw 11:11 on the clock. i couldn't see any reason not to assume that time meant something really special was happening. it was four 1's in a row!

are any of we in tune to telepy? 'caause... i have a telemarketing skeem to pull.

saturdayindex, i wanna keep that story in mind... wait until you see where this is going. i want to post it to part four but i'll give it a bit... i'll post to part three a little early here though, probably within the next couple of days.

I think it's creepier when my clock says 99:99 and it's not even plugged in.

i've known for a long time i was going to meet my death at the hands of some well-meaning crazyperson on a mission. who wants to take bets it'll be a twoismer? do i hear $50?

i could do it for 50 if that's how you like it.

About 3 or 4 times a day i just happen to look the time and its 11:11, or 2:22 or 3:33 and so on... Been happening more frequently the last couple months i think.

I have been having similar situations involving delusions haha

Started with just clocks and numbers but has sort of taken over. I don't know what to think of it though. It's like people read that they're going insane, and things are all in their head, but when you actually are the one seeing the patterns, things syncing up, etc. it doesn't seem so made up.

I have read some stuff on delusions of reference and ideas of reference. What it's defined as is when someone thinks someone around them is talking about them when really it's a separate conversation, or maybe something on tv or the radio.

Ok, make sense to say that is something known as schizophrenia. But what about when I clean my room, and right when I finish Polar Sky's 'I Have a Clean Room' comes on. Or I'm doing math in my head, and right when I think "what's 10 x 33?" as I'm doing math homework and a girl next to me having a conversation asks when a movie starts and someone answers 3:30. Completely irrelevant, but the things match up. You can't tell me I'm going insane for noticing things like this. Ok, so those two examples are just made up, but I have tons of these things happen all the time, some being really amazing and overwhelming. Some being more than just noise syncing up, but picture, videos, situations. It's like your on a permanent trip where everything fits in it's place and NOTHING has no meaning. And I use to have things like this and I'd call them coincidence, but when I get 10's to 100's of these a day, it's hard to label it coincidence.

The only bad part I see in my case is when I start expecting answers from external sources, expecting the answers to be there. That's when I guess it sorta takes over.

These are the flaws in the Matrix, my friends. It's too perfect.

Personally, I think anything regarding numerology is nonsense and really doesn't merrit much thought.

However, in cases like this, I think it's possible that there are some elements of the mind, likely subconscious, that cause specific numbers to be noticed repeatedly in one's environment.

11:11 would be a convenient number to recognize subconsciously...repetative and aesthetically simple.

There's a similar phenomenon know as Street Light Interference (SLI), which some of you might be familiar with (wiki here). The basic idea is that some people tend to notice street lights turning off or on in regular intervals, typically within proximity. IE: A person will drive past a street light, at which point it will abruptly shut off. The quick, gut reaction tends to be "I caused the street light to turn off", but I think there's a much more reasonable explanation.

Years ago, I decided to ask my dad about SLI, since it happens to me frequently. He said that the same thing happens to him, but not to many others he'd talked to. Based upon our similarities, he hypothesized that SLI is simply an observational phenomenon: some individuals tend to notice subtle changes in their environment, like a light going out, whereas others don't. And periodic phenomenon, like a light shutting off repeatedly (broken, etc) or cyclically (due to a shadow at a particular time of day on the light sensor, etc) further stimuates this observational part of the mind. So, there are certainly patterns (it's 11:11 twice a day, after all), but I'd say it's far more likely that our minds are responsible, not the supernatural.

Personally, that makes it more fascinating to me, not less.

Funny thing I forgot, a lot of times when I get hungry I see the numbers 56. I think it's wonderful!
