I'm sure there are other Twoismers here awaiting the release of this game with drooling mouths. I got some great news: You can opt-in to the BETA
here.
In order to opt-in, you must register a battle-net account and register 1 game to that account.

I really hope the DotA team starts making SC2 DotA, that would be insane to say the least.

So maybe they fixed whatever problem they had in registering a game.

Awful and stupid! If it hadn't been for LAN functionality, my hours and hours of Starcraft use would've been reduced to barely at all - my house had a LAN and everyone would come over to play. We'd order pizza. When we were done we'd go downstairs and watch a movie. That was Starcraft and that's how it worked. Without it, Starcraft is just another dumb online game forcing you to play with people you don't know and can't stand to be around in what amounts to a cyber-vacuum devoid of intelligence, civility, and fair play. Playing with friends: fun. Playing with douchekids online: waste of time.

Yep blizzard is changing, somewhat in a good way, but they are also slowly replacing all of the great aspects of their RTS games.

They just want to make sure you have a CD key to play. It would be really incredibly stupid to disallow lan party functions, that is the main root for today's online gaming. At one point or another if you like PC gaming growing up you participated in a lan party. I'm sure there will be a reasonable alternative anyways. So as long as you aren't pirating the game there's nothing to really freak out about.
PS: The Mothership looks really dumb, as in...pointless. It's explosion (when it died) was rather anti-climatic as well.
What other aspects are you referring to 88?('sides no lan play)

I can honestly say I'm super excited about sc2. The no LAN idea is kind of bogus, and I'm sure they will see how pissed people are and implement something simple for local game play. What I meant was basically Warcraft III, the entire hero idea changed everything completely.
