Ok...so we know what it is...no box set...no acoustic version...no re-release...but, what is it really?

Are these tracks part of the Campfire session?

Are these going to sound more like older Boards i.e. Geogaddi or Music?

Of course there is no way of really knowing until we hear it...but speculation is fun...


By the sound of the new track playing on their page it leads me to think it will be somewhat darker...more intense tracks...however that track may have no relation what so ever to the 4 new tracks...but i want to hear what you guys think...everyone on here has good insight on things...hell, we even had someone guess the release date and the type of release...so what do you guys think?

What will Trans Canada Highway sound like?

What I think it will be - I think it's gonna be more in the vein of Dayvan Cowboy and other guitar driven tracks on Campfire, continuing with the road trip theme.

What I hope it will be - I hope it'll be darker and more electronic sounding with fewer guitars. I'm really lovin the bassline on their site, it almost reminds me of Massive Attack or Nine Inch Nails. (which definately is'nt a bad thing) I also hope they resserect the vocal samples.

On a side note - I'm I the only one who is'nt really feelin the artwork on the cover? It's nice, but seems really plain compared to the majority of their catalog.

i like the title, only because that highway holds a lot of memories for me.

i read somewhere that they did this straight after geogaddi, so it might hace a tinge of geogaddi flavour... which would be quite tasty... no?

I totally agree you derail(what else is new)...it does continue on with the road trip theme...names of the tracks, art work etc. etc.

on the artwork...i kind of like it...very catalog three looking...

When I first heard TCH I felt it was only half of something, such an awesome album but considering its roots, kind of...almost unfinished. I hope the new TCH will fill in those gaps for me, something richer and more substantial, yet in the same vein.

to be honest derail, i can't remember, but i know i read it. it may have been the hexagon sun official on the yahoo newsgroup who mentioned it.

also someone made an interesting observation on one of the track names

i had such amazing experiences last fall listening to TCH while road-tripping through New England and Quebec...most of the pics on my myspace thingy are from those months....now that i'm living in California, i'm dead curious to see how the new songs will enhance my explorations of this area in the summer!

and that song on their site is so.... mechanical and dark; and i'm seeing an oblique face in the clouds, it's getting geogaddier in here! but how would dayvan cowboy fit in?

IN AGREEANCE with DERAIL-you and I are thinking alike.

I'm totally indifferent to the artwork. Actually
that's a lie. The artwork & title are my least favorite
of the boards catalog-not that I'm not down with minimal
cover art, its just looks a bit thrown together. When you look
at Geogaddi, or the IABPOITC artwork, you can really pick up
on the thought & time that went behind the composition.

Then again Boards may be like "fuck it" we're just
musicians from this point on, and its time to start anew.

I predict the "DAYVAN COWBOY"
video will be directed by Peter Iain Campbell.

I think it's going to be featuring 50 Cent, Eminem and G-Unit.

I also think there will be an "epic" kind of sound to this release. (Guitars, voilins, live drums, etc...much like Dayvan) The Odd Nosdam remix is reported to be 9+ minutes, so I think the rest of the tracks will have the same sort of quality to them. I just hope there's no filler tracks. Yes, they're nice, but on a 4 track ep I want as much Boccy goodness as I can get.

A couple things on the artwork. Like a lot of people are saying, it has a certain "throwback" feel to it, as if it were from their earlier years. Perhaps this is something that they intended. And going along with that notion, the title has a reference to Canada, which is something they haven't done in a while as well. Then again, one of the overwhelming sentiments in their music is that it takes you back to past experiences, so why would this be anything new?

P.S. I am not high right now.

So what about the track lengths for the new tracks, what do you guys think? will it be just short interlude type tracks or big regular ones? or maybe a combination..whats your guess? the winner, or the one who comes closest will win a lot of....respect

Left Side Drive (sounds like a full track to me, think it will have nice beats dunno why, but let me guess 3:30

Heard From the Telegraph Lines (this maybe a interlude but hmm nah...but I hope its a full track, and I think this is the track thats playing right now on the site, hmmm I guess 4:35 and hope its like that)

Skyliner (this is a bit shorter, 1:55, kinda like sherbet head)

Under the Coke Sign (sounding like Macuarie Ridge and Zoetrope, beatless but beautiful and melancholic, 5:55 min)

Dayvan Cowboy (Odd Nosdam Remix) (I heard this is 10 min plus!!! EPIC stuff!!)

some of my favorite tracks are the short interludes...i really like those...but seeing is how this is just a mini album or e.p. i really want 4 full length tracks...

but, any new boards is good boards...if they were all 1 minute and under...i still would be happy...

yeah theres a fair few voices on TCH but they're much more hidden... i hope theres guitars and live drums, as long as theyre are as lush as they possibly can be. i definatley want to hear them progress with the organic live sound. having said that, the loop at music70 is very dark, kind of jon carpenter like so im hoping they bring together the darkness of geogaddi and the hazey sunshine vibe of the campfire.... i cant wait anyway. ill be happy with anything from them!
