Do any of you on twoism like jazz music?

And i'm talking about jazz legends like: Miles Davis, Billie Holiday, Chet baker, Louis Armstrong, Sonny Rollins, Art Blakey, Thelonious Monk, Charles Mingus, Charlie Parker, Ella Fitzgerald, Oscar Peterson, Toots Thielemans, [ from my home country Belgium] Dizzy Gillespie, John Coltrane, Stan Getz, Duke Ellington, Sarah Vaughan, Wayne Shorter, Count Basie, Django Reinhardt etc.
Most people think jazz is only for intellectuals, but i disagree :!:

I listened to Miles Davis's "So What" just this morning. I like Dave Brubeck and Henry Mancini and folks like that as well

I also get into exotic jazz, like Martin Denny and Les Baxter.

So.. yeah. But I like to think of myself as intellectual as well... so.... maybe I'm disproving your point. :wink:

i love jazz, but know little aobut artists, the only album under blue note i own is one of st.germains, and i do like fusion.

If you like fusion listen too Bitches Brew from Miles Davis, year 1970 :!:

The Blue Note label is one of the best, and Verve ofcourse. :wink:

cheers, mate. ill do that. i certainly heard of miles davis before but ive not of the aformentioned release. is it currently available, or is this gonna be a mission to track down?

I have it on 2/lp, but you can find it on 2/cd as a re-release. :wink:

Jazz "legends"? A good starting point can be:
- John Coltrane A love supreme
- Miles Davis A kind of blue
- Bill Evans You must believe in spring
- Brad Mehldau Songs (after hearing this one, some asked me "hey, d'you have more jazz stuff?")

But everybody already knows these ones, so I'll add two all-time favorites:
- Charlie Haden The ballad of the fallen
- Oliver Nelson The blues and the abstract truth

Depends on style...if you want chill melody I'd suggest...Pat methany or...miles davis (you can't go wrong with him) Art Pepper...although nog everything...

I like free-jazz if that counts... Hook up some Cecil Taylor.

i loved this record the first time I heard it, and the more i listen the more i love it. Got to be one of my all-time favourites
