I recently started my BoC vinyl collection, and have found a few items in scattered places. I was wondering where everyone found their records. Any interesting finds or stories?

I got all of mine off ebay.

First I heard a blurb about BoC in a review of a different band and album. I started up my iTunes, looked them up, and quickly became enamored with them. This was only about 2 years ago. I'm still kicking myself in the ass for not hearing of them sooner.

I still have yet to own any vinyl of theirs, although I would love to own some.

vinyl seems to be HUGE these days, especially with UK dubstep releases. I have nothing to play vinyl and don't know much about vinyl records at all (just grew up listening to david bowie, the beatles, and classical music on vinyl growing up in the early-mid eighties). my cd/mp3 collection is enormous, but I've considered getting into vinyl. do you think vinyl will ever kind of fade out as it did in the 90s in the US?? ps colorado hexagon that is a fantastic avatar; do you have a high res you could send me??

Vinyl is resurging in the US as well, up 37% in 2007, 35% in 2009.

I've got all publicly released stuff on CD, but I'm starting to get into vinyl myself.

I bought a 12" Hi Scores album off Best Buy's website..
probably not the best move.

Ordered on the 7th of November, and it still says that it's backordered.. or special order.. or something. and I can't call "customer care" until the order is one year old.. :\

So, yeah I'll probably go to discogs next time.

you'll pay top dollar on discogs but you will get what you want when you want it.

I found collecting boc stuff akin to drugs so it may be best not to start in the first place although its probably cheaper than coke (but not that fentimans coke, thats some good shit).

I still can not believe how much BoC Vinyl has gone up in price since 2005, but when you wait to buy vinyl after a band has become popular enough for a 16 yr old Wendy's Drive-thru window clerk to compliment your boc shirt, you know they have gained more fans. And vinyl has gone up in popularity with Indy kids and hipsters, which sucks IMO because it's not fair for the people who actually like the sound of vinyl rather than the nostalgic "cool" look.

There is nothing like the sound of Geogaddi on a Linear Tracking turntable.

i'm actually about to be in the panhandle today.

just bought IABPOITC of discogs today for 27 bucks. I can definitely see the inflation myself from when I first started listening to BoC. I guess I should have hoped on this collection a few years ago.

I'll let you know if I find anything in any of the record stores I stumble upon.

I've seen them at Bent Crayon in Cleveland, OH. Their online store seems to be a bit fux0red and you can't actually buy anything but they appear to show all BoC's vinyl releases in stock.

thanks for the help everyone! i found the Aquarius 7" on discogs. the person was asking for $105 but I offered $80 and he accepted. what do you think is a good price for this release? I know it's super rare and limited to 500, but still.

It's not a bad price, considering what it has gone for in the past, but it really all comes down to what the individual is willing to pay. Take a look at popsike.com, for comparison prices on Boards Of Canada records that have sold on eBay over the last few years. Popsike is an archive site, and you can search by artist for a list of records which have sold on ebay over the last few years(I think it goes back as far as 2005).

when it comes down to it, i think aquarius for under 100 is a pretty good deal at this point.
