Thought I Might Point This Out

I was playing Metroid Prime the other day and I had one of those experiences where you see something that you should have noticed, but until that point you hadn't, and then you feel stupid because of it.

It's a door in Metroid Prime, yet it's also a Turquoise Hexagon.

Now, I don't know if this is a coincidence or not, but Metroid is a game that would make people nostalgic and look at their childhood in a different light (if however they played Metroid when they were young). Also, if this is meant as a reference, Music Has The Right To Children came out long before Metroid Prime was put on shelves, so there is potential that this is a little bit of BoC in this game....however, unlikely.

Not necessarily.

What's to stop a developer from working bits and pieces of the things he/she likes into their work?

I may or may not be working on a project right now that may or may not have similar... nods.

Yeah, metroid definitely has more of a bola feel.

I'll acknowledge that there is a small possibility it might not be a coincidence. But Tim Horton's serves breakfast sandwiches that are hexagons. There is a possibility that's not a coincidence too.

What's this project you're working on? more secrets???

There's also a similar occurrence in Resident Evil 4, in one part you have to find two halves of a stone to open a door and they form a turquoise hexagon shape.

ever since I started listening to BoC I always notice that now.

Another thing that couldn't possibly be a coincidence: hexagon rhymes with Mexican. I think you can figure the rest out for yourself...

A Boards of Canada fan invented a time machine and went back in time to invent Mexicans and extreme cases of colour blindness so that some people would see them as turquoise coloured.

Metroid blast doors or w/e you wanna call them have been around long before that boc album. Just not in 3d form.
