Coolio! It sounds a little more experimental than previous works, reminds me of electronic freeform jazz at times, you can see the influence of his Coltrane family coming through.

so far I haven't been impressed at all with the new tracks I've heard, which are the ones on youtube (computerface/ pure being, dance of the pseudo) I feel disappointed hearing these... maybe there will be some other tunes on it that catch my attention, but for now I think the album is being hyped up waaay too much, just because it's by flylo. he's talented, no doubt. I love his july heat mix and los angeles had some really good tracks. I guess I prefer his hip-hop and tribal stuff that they used to play on the cartoon network bumps. for now, not going to reserve a copy

ha, well i would say that i really like computerface/pure being, and dance of the pseudo is nice as well, but i am not feeling the tracks on the phuturelabs site. i like that he's getting this tonnage of layering, and this almost tenuous link with the elements he's fading in and out...as long as he keeps it together and there's a nice melody in there i'm down.

Not feeling this album as much as i was hoping to

I really like Do The Astral Plane though.

First listen didn't get me like I had hoped, but a listen to and from work today reeeaaallllyyy started taking off. Gna check it out some more and hope it latches onto the l'il bits of magic I caught today - I think it might be a grower....

I love the album but I need to be in the mood for it for full enjoyment. It's a little quirkier than previous works, he's definitely trying something a little different which is nice. Also I wish Zodiac Shit was longer, when that percussion drops it's just awesome and ends far too quickly.

I've listend his discography but i found very little good tracks - it sounds very boring but sometimes quite well instrumental for the jazz and rap vocal....i disappointed in two things - 1)It's not IDM at all the way....2)It's from WARP....

Correcto it's not IDM in the slightest, but then did it ever have to be? And Warp have released much much worse in the past.

As far as I'm concerned Warp is the only somewhat major label that has a feel for quality music.

Listened to it all the way through for the first time today, enjoyed it very much! There's a few tracks that I have yet to grasp fully, but there will be more listens to come. I didn't know what to expect, so going into it with a clear head helps I think. Definitely going to be playing this over the summer, and there's definitely some groovyness to be enjoyed here.

Not anti-Warp in the slightest, still one of my favourite labels. I'm assuming that when he said its from Warp, he meant that Cosmogramma was a dissapointing release from their point of view, and I was suggesting they've released worse, Maximo Park etc., the more commercial stuff Chris Morris's new film is released today on Warp too, can't wait to see it!

This worries me. Some of it sounds incredible, but.

The few bits I've heard (esp Pickled, etc) so far sound more like...weird, noisy, old school electronica.

Which is cool and all, but I really liked FlyLo for the hip hop inspired/Lone-ish kind of work. This sounds...different. I dunno, most of the tracks are spot on but some are like...no dude wrong direction for my tastes. Still genius in its own way, whether I personally like all of it or not, it is def worth checking out I'm sure.

Edit: Okay so I re-listened to the whole thing. And really Pickled and Recoiled are the only two that kind of don't do it for me on here. It's better than I thought. Okay....good FlyLo.

This album is incredible. I was pretty underwhelmed on first listen but it has grown on me massively with each listen. It's more complete as an album than FlyLo's previous works too. I can't helping feeling like his best work is still yet to come too.

I agree with everything you just said and had the same experience; after giving this a few spins it's *clicking* more and more each time and I am in awe. Really liking the jazzy cosmic vibe which is married perfectly with fuzzy beats, vocal layers (MmmHmm has an excellent vocal layer) and 8-bit sounding electronic droplets. Totally awesome - FlyLo is on the rise IMO! ^__^

I've listened to it a few times and have enjoyed it. Not sure if I like it as much as Los Angeles, there are some really good tracks though. "Do The Astral Plane" is incredibly chill and catchy. I really like the DnB beat mixed with the bass and cool textures in "Pickled".
