Luke Abbott - Holkham Drones

just listened to the album.......it's fucking awesome.

like a mashup of BOC, Aphex Twin, drony soundscape ambient music.
got it on repeat on the player at the moment. loving it.
gonna do a wee review on the PL site- i'll stick the link up when it's done.

this is the best thing I've heard in a long time, superb stuff. Only on track 6 as well! I wish I was somewhere nice listening to this instead of in work.

Very surprised less BoC fans are digging this.... what has been playing on m iPod recently is VHS Head, this and Royksopp. I think this is the best of the 3. I mean, listen to this, it's genius...

yeah, i agree. but we're all fickle boccy people on here.
(@rolypablo- did you manage not to listen to it for day as ou said? i didn't....i've included in my recent mix for the forthcoming Phuturelabs Radio Magnetic podcast...love it!).

Just listened to that Brazil track on youtube. Indeed a very nice song. Border community has lots of great artists and records.

Done a quick search, and I'm surprised there isn't more love for Luke. He released two EPs last year, Modern Driveway and Object Is A Navigator - personally I prefer the first EP to the second, but that's largely because I think it's exceptional.

Ok, so Luke's new album didn't come out in 2013. It's out this coming Monday. It's called 'Wysing Forest' and it's really good (yes, it's leaked). It's very different from Holkham Drones in that it's less overtly melodic and more atmospheric - think proggy and freeform.
The album centrepiece (more off-centrepiece as it's track 2) is Amphis. Here's an album taster/ live outdoor performance from the youtubes....
