He's a talented musician for sure. JAS was technically good in places, but everytime I try and give it another shot I find myself bored and uninterested with it very quickly :/The Friendly Stranger wrote:Snufkin wrote:Ug! I'm hoping this isn't as sh*t as Just a souvenir...

Just a souvenir was not a shit album. It just wasn't a Squarepusher album. Had some great moments. It maybe didn't come together as well as I might have hoped but you can't deny how talented he is.
the words self-indulgent spring to mind when I listen to itSnufkin wrote:He's a talented musician for sure. Go Plastic was more self indulgent than JAS imo.Numerator wrote:the words self-indulgent spring to mind when I listen to itSnufkin wrote:He's a talented musician for sure. Really nothing beats Solo Electric Bass 1 for self indulgence. That said the new clip sounds quite good actually, I just hope it isn't all in the same vein as it.The Friendly Stranger wrote:Go Plastic was more self indulgent than JAS imo.Numerator wrote:the words self-indulgent spring to mind when I listen to itSnufkin wrote: He's a talented musician for sure. I'm afraid so.747Music wrote:Am I the only one who thought this was awesome?
No, you're not. Tom J has mad bass skillz and I think about everything he does is "awesome". I can see why people wouldn't like this though. I guess it's like alot of things- either love it or hate it.747Music wrote:Am I the only one who thought this was awesome?
I must say, Fredd-E, your commitment to BoC and constant optimism is uplifting. I wish I could partake in your positive perspective about possible future publications. Alas, everytime I visit this place, I grow more and more skeptical.Fredd-E wrote:Well it gives me hope for a new boc release anytime soon. Squarepusher might not be as big as BoC but still it's one of the bigger names in the scene and see how he got his new stuff presented. Out of the blue in a bleep newsletter. Announced 1.5 months in advance.
Reckon the new boc will be treated the same way or with a little bit more boom boom?
PS: that squarepusher video sounded meh
