It's been four years since an album came out, MDG. We have not heard anything from the Sandisons since then, only silence. While some people are worried about whether a new album is coming, I have a more pressing issue: Are the Sandisons still alive?

The silence has been a little too quiet for my liking. Anyone with any business sense would know that if you have a group of devoted, obsessed fans, you can announce a product and they will buy it, even if it's not your best work. This core group is dependable and willing to defend your product to the death - look at Apple fans, Star wars geeks, anime nerds, video game nerds. If you announce it, they will buy it. If the Sandisons followed this example, Boards of Canada could make a great deal of money. Instead, they either A) don't care about money, B) hate their fans, C) are "too busy" working on a mythical new album or D) are actually dead.

Bocpages.org claims that you are a member of Hexagon Sun and that you have contact with the Sandisons. I have begun to doubt that this is true, and that you in fact have no contact with them, as evidenced by a lack of verifiable news, infrequent contact and that you also do not seem to care about the fans.

I now ask you this: prove to us that Marcus and Michael are actually alive, or that you have contact with them. A picture of them holding a piece of paper saying "Hello Internet," an official statement on their website, anything substantial. I am tired of the games, tired of the lack of communication. We are the people that buy their music - we are their customers, and we deserve the tiniest morsel of interaction.

If a boc album doesn't come out by christmas it's safe to say that mdg is a troll.

Can you have some consideration for his ( Voluntary) postion. His hands are tied!
We should consider ourslves lucky to get any feedback at all.

On a personal note as I have been the killer of many threads on this site, with any luck my two cents will kill this one stone cold dead.

We don't even know if he is who he says he is. There's no real proof. If he's legit, I genuinely appreciate his input, even if sparse. However, I want proof that the Sandisons are actually alive.

MDG is a person and can do whatever he wants. Topics like this wont help him come to this forum. Just leave him.

Please respect MDG, we should be glad that he has given us info in the past, not call him out like this. In my opinion this shows no respect to him as a person or whatsoever.

I just want some sort of update. I mean, it was said that the album was coming out in 2010. It's not like that was made up.

MDG must have been quite aware that his appearance would lead people to believe him. They began to trust in him with all the consequences.

The silence from his side show just one point: he shows no respect to all of his believers! That means essentially all of us.

I mean, nobody would be angry at _him_ if he just shows up and tells us, ok, sorry, I was wrong, the album won't appear this year. We would be pissed because we have to wait, but we would not run mad about MDG as a person.

It's not than I'm trying to be rude, it's more that I am beyond being frustrated. The tone is the result of just getting off a bad day at work.

the lack of recent release is disapointing but please dont compare Boards of Canada with Apple/Star wars marketing moves. Boards of Canada are artists not some huge corporate brands.

mdg is on this board to provide information where he sees fit. We should be thankful to have him as a moderator on here to debunk rumours. In no way we can demand answers or call him out like this. He has a life outside of the Sandisons and if he has time I'm sure he will come around.

Like portiss said, respect him for taking time to even show himself on this board at all.
