So being a geek, I'm curious about what rigs Boccers use.

Here's mine:
CPU -- Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 running at 2.66GHz
RAM -- 4GB of DDR2 800MHz (2x 2046 sticks)
HDD -- 250GB 3Gb/s Maxtor 7200RPM & 750GB 3Gb/s Seagate 7200RPM (So a total of 1TB)
GPU -- GeForce XFX 9800 GT (DirectX 10) <-- Will be upgrading this card to the Superclocked GeForce EVGA GTX 460 with 1GB GDDR5 RAM (DirectX 11).
PSU -- 750W
OS -- Windows XP SP3 32Bit <--- Soon to be Windows 7 Pro 64Bit
Case -- Thermaltake Tsunami Dream



So what do you have?

I have an AMD Athlon 1600+, which clocks in at not 1.1, not 1.2, not 1.3, but 1.4 mothatruckin gigaherrrtz!! W00!

Also, 1gb of ram, an old sapphire radeon 9600 graphics card and a 250gb hard drive. It does the job, so long as I keep the minimum installed on it Runs Ableton Live Lite 4 not too bad as well. Also, tis running Windows XP

Gone are the days when I had time to build my own uber desktops for gaming

- My laptop "daily driver" is a MacBook Pro, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.8Ghz, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD.

- I also have 2 servers that are old Intel 2.0GHZ boxes that are frankensteins, so I don't even remember what the specs are on them anymore. They are running BSD.

- And my workhorse server I have running is an Xserve, Quad Xeon 2.0Ghz CPU, 8GB RAM, and 2TB HDD. Dual link aggregated 100Mbps... too bad my ISP doesn't offer me a connection fast enough to use it.

Dual boot OSX, and BSD.

So I bought my SuperClocked Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 today. Waiting for it to come in the mail next week hopefully. OOOOOOOOH! I can't wait! DirectX 11 here I come!

Nice one Cupz. Did you build it yourself? Also, how is the AMD CPU treating you? I hear they're so inexpensive for a reason. But I'm sure it's not that bad.

So I got Windows 7 pro 64 bit. And my GTX 460 came in the mail today. Was running some benchmarks earlier, it's an awesome video card. Am running Crysis on ultra high settings with AA enabled and there is no lag at all. It looks gorgeous!

bought it for $400 from a kid i used to work with. later found out it was stolen. oh well.

i actually am selling most of a computer (minus the power supply) if anyone is interested (US only please, unless you are interested in paying for overseas shipping). I'll post details later but it's not a bad machine and the case is great. runs TF2 like a champ, not sure about newer games.

This thread has come at a very handy time, next saturday (13th) I am buying a new desktop, i have about £750 to spend, i want basically the best specs possible (monitor needs to be included) just wondering what people can dig out for me! Any help would be muchos appreciated. Im in the UK btw.

Just in case the several of you who are running HP laptops haven't heard yet, there is a huge court battle raging right now over defective boards/GPUs on several series of HP laptops sold from 2006-2009, possibly longer. there are a ton of recalls, and the warranty periods are extremely limited on them. i missed my warranty by about 9 days of course. mine spontaneously shut down in june, haven't gotten it running yet. lost a TON of shit because i was an idiot and didn't have a recent backup. i've tried everything short of reballing the gpu because that would cost as much as buying another piece of shit HP. never again, i can tell you that much...

I'm getting a new mobo/HDD/ram/processor pretty soon, so my current rig isn't anything to really show off. I've got a really nice Rosewill PSU, haven't been happier with a power supply. I've got an MSI micro motherboard that I really hate, and the USB ports are the only onboard hardware that I actually use. Only 2 gigs of ram at the moment, but will be 4 soon enough. For a video card I've got an evga nvidia geforce 9800 gt (recently upgraded from a 8600 gt). Love this card - the evga one takes up two spots basically, one for output and one for the heatsink fan. AMD dual core 2.3. Currently running Windows 7 64bit on one drive and XP 32bit on the other. I also have two lcd's. wireless logitech keyboard, and about a week ago I recieved my new NZXT mouse which is probably my favorite part of my entire setup.
