i am sick of itunes. it sucks. i need a cool music manager that works with ipods that is also for mac osx.tell me your suggestions.

If you like simplicity, you might try Cog. It hasn't much features (also no iPod support I think), but it's so easy too work with, I thought I'd just suggest it anyway.
Folder structure = structure in Cog, no need to add mp3's it to the program (good feature in case of compilations). This was the main reason for choosing Cog for me. I also like the on the fly creation of playlists...... (These are also the only features it has I think )

Why the iTunes hate?

well ive had itunes my whole life. its solid i guess but im getting so sick of some of its various fallbacks. like they have updated itunes throughout all these years and basically only change the interface, theres nothing better that they are adding to itunes to make it cooler, i just kind of want something different.

I guess I should of mentioned something about the badassness of Amarok. It was originally developed for Linux, and still is. Among its basic features includes a very snappy collection management system, detection and handling of external devices, it has widget space which includes lyrics, song info, wikipedia, videos, artist info, similar artist, and more. Also, last.fm integration and downloadable scripts.

I highly suggest giving it a try.

I use Winamp. Plug in your ipod, listen to music on it, drag and drop music on and off of it. With itunes you have to sync your ipod - screw that. I'd suggest winamp for simplicity, and compatibility. You can customize it pretty much however you want with track/album/library arrangement, color, skins etc.. I hear it works on OSX.

Unfortunately Winamp and OSX don't mix. You should be able to run it as a Windows app in OSX via Crossover, but even then I don't believe it would 'see' the Mac's USB devices to connect to an iPod / iPhone - unless someone's done it?

Ahh you're right I think.. I read on a forum real quick that it works but I didn't read deep enough it looks like. Seems messy!

What will play everything including Flac, but can have a library, because i know VLC will play virtually anything but it doesn't allow a library only playlists.
