I'll cut right to the chase:

Have BOC used this melody in some of their other songs?
I am sure I've heard this melody in some other song or context, maybe another band, or something really similar.

Or could it just be the usual BOC genius, that involves making up, or in this case, finding, an universal melody, which is imprinted in our DNA, making us all somehow recognize it, upon first hearing?

Yeah, definitely the latter. BoC's music comes directly from the one source that all things depend.

After really studying and covering this song myself, I'd have to say that it's completely one of a kind. It is one of my top favorites, and it hasn't been used on any other songs as far as I am concerned.
