Hey all. Thought I'd ask Twoism about this - I'm looking for some really spacy, melodic, beautiful trance I can zone out to.

My favorite record of this type is Dave Ralph's "Tranceport II" so anything like that would be nice. The emphasis I'd like to take is on melody and beautiful...epic atmospherics.

This isn't the exact version of Toca Me that appears on Tranceport II but it's pretty darn close, to give a good example of what I'm looking for:

And yeah... Toca Me has been one of my favorite electronic songs since I was about...ohh, 11 or 12 years old.

I haven't listened to much trance in a few years, so everything I'm going to list will be woefully out of date.

Above & Beyond - Tri-State is a pretty great progressive trance album, IMO, but I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for.

Mike Foyle has done some quite nice piano-based trance, like "Shipwrecked" and "Love Theme Dusk".

S.O.L.I.S. - Dolphins (Classified Project Mix) might be somewhat closer to what you're looking for.

Hopefully this'll get you started, at least, in the meantime before someone who knows what they're talking about shows up.

That's getting there, yeah - it started off a little too drum-happy for my tastes but when the bassline started shifting I liked it a little more.

Any compilations anyone knows of? Please don't restrict yourself music-wise, I don't care if it's cheesy or old or out of style, as long as it's emotive and epic and dreamy I'd like to hear it.

Might want to look into Tiesto's Magik series CDs, especially the third and later, and the early In Search of Sunrise CDs. John Digweed & Sasha - Northern Exposure I and II are both classics and very lush. Any Oakenfold / Perfecto compilation from later '90s / early '00s will probably have this kind of stuff on it. I know some of the Trance Nation CDs were pretty good, too, but I never owned them so I'm not sure which ones (used to listen to them riding around in my friend's car).

back in 2000, a girlfriend gave me a cd from 'dream dance vol 12' that she picked up in france. my friends and i kind of turned cd1 of the comp into an anthem for our childhood. <3 (the above tune is off cd1.)

i really miss 2000, music was so much more of a communal thing back then; life was so open and infinite. it's funny how tastes change and people move on, yet the memories will always remain.

Look up Infected Mushroom. Especially BP Empire and Classical Mushroom. They are the best in the psy-trance genre.
