Hello,
I was wondering about Christ., musician. I have recently started to listen to his stuff, and given he was sort of the "third" BoC member ( http://bocpages.org/wiki/Christ. ) I would like to know if anyone out there has any opinions of his music.

What are his good albums?
What should I listen to first?
Is it mostly calmer, more down tempo than BoC or does he have anything closer to their style?

For me I think it sounds more claustrophobic and a little more depressing than boc.
It does seem to strangely have a very simmilar sound to boc, but I cant quite describe it, even thought its more pure idm.

I feel that there are some rare occasions where he realy does match up to boc, and others where he sounds like just any other idm musician. He mostly leaves me feeling a little gloomy so I rarely listen to his work, but I can apreciate it when I do.

Thoes are my thoughts, but I am not the best person to offer you advice on his stuff.

Christ.'s music has always bored the shit out of me. I wouldn't recommend it at all.

i should probably listen to christ. a lot more than i actually do. there seems to be a love/hate thing on this board, which is a little surprising. a lot of people criticise his production qualities, and his overall sound, whereas i feel this actually adds charm to the tracks. i think the best place is to start with is Blue Shift Emissions...this track, 'happyfour twenty' is wonderful.

He has some good tracks I dig. Like One Sunny Cloudy Day, Magic Piano and of course Moxley Moy..would be cool to hear his early albums someday. Get the Pylonesque EP and Metamorphic Reproduction Miracle while you are at it.

I've become quite a fan of his. Metamorphic Reproduction Miracle and Blue Shift Emissions (Stained Century and Breathe Between Sleep are stand-outs) are both excellent albums.

Although I generally agree with the 'more claustrophobic / depressing than BoC' comments, he sounds more upbeat on the Bike EP which is also worth adding to your collection. Especially during Round The Rigg which is a great little track.

Is he still around? It looks like his labels website hasn't been updated since 2009.

the song; Absolom (for Lucy), from the pylonesque ep is def. a standout track.

Does anyone else feel that the Pylonesque EP is mastered WAY too loud? It's insanely piercing for this type of music.

He is still around. Benbecula records are no more, sadly they stopped putting stuff out in 2009.

Thanks for the update about his move to Awkward Silence Records. I was just wondering about this guy after I was listening to his live album the other day.

I enjoyed Metamorphic Reproduction Miracle.

'Skylab One' is the best song on the album

Listening to his music I definitely see some similarity to BoC's slower, ambient music. I enjoy it, quite a bit actually. Thanks, everyone

Interesting choice in a track there, BMX Kid. Similar sounding to BMX Track

amazing. 2 of my top 10 favorite electronic artists of all time, and to have them together is even better. bought.

Yes the recording on his first three is the worst.
Conflicting frequencies, the hi's are unbearable. Too much reverb. And pointless note progressions.
Extra awful production.

But I will say that the ep bike, is really good. Blue Shift Emissions and after are better than the releases that preceded them.

But thats just how I hear it.

I'm not picky about production. in fact I really don't give a shit. pylonesque and mrm both sound excellent to me.

Yes. Both of those are my favorites as well. They're just about as solid as he could get. One of my favorite Christ. tracks, however, would have to be One Sunny Cloudy Day. Audio magic.
