A Winged Victory for the Sullen *New Album Nov 1st 2019*

The increasingly prolific Adam Wiltzie (Stars of the Lid) has hooked up with Dustin O'Halloran on
this new release. The
preview sounds typically fantastic. I know I don't have to give this the hard sell to the likes of Bleak and Disavowed....
Oh - and the best bit? From the great man himself:
'ladies & gentlemen. this to be released this fall by me & good friend dustin o'halloran. it will surely help true lid lovers cope until the next one is done.'

Whole album streaming on
DrownedInSound. Personally, I'm waiting for the vinyl to arrive, although I'll probably relent and check it out tomorrow.

This album is beautiful. It's as good as having a new SOTL LP, honestly.

WHERE'S MY VINYL!!! Ho hum. Drumming fingers on table...
EDIT: ....downloaded (officially) the MP3's while I wait for the LP to arrive. Oh me, oh my. Words can't do it justice. There's a clip on
Vimeo showing them recording it and Adam Wiltzie looks close to tears. Now I know why.
Truly, truly special. Please seek this one out. Unless something comes out of leftfield before Dec 31, this is my album of the year.
Stunning.

AHHH NEW SOTL HOLY SHIT. This is really, really good news. Like fucking awesome. This album is pretty incredible too. Can't wait for the vinyl to get here. I was pretty bummed when it got delayed two weeks.

Vinyl ordered from Norman. Only allowed myself the briefest of listens on Soundcloud before deciding it was amazing.

Vinyl (finally) arrived today after days of making do with the MP3's. I'm inclined to agree - possible album of the year. The only thing that makes me hesitate is the Sleepingdog LP which is truly stunning too.
I posted as much on AWVFTS's Facebook page and Adam Wiltzie came back with one word:
'Sleepingdog'
Both are simply magnificent. SOTL will have to work damn hard to top these.

It kind of amazes me in a way - I mean given the constraints that ambient operates under - how much variety these guys seem to come up with. I mean I'm sure to the layman that any give SOTL album sounds same-ish - but to a fan there's clear differences - lots of nuance and growth that we have seen from these guys in the past 10 years.
We're only on our way up from here. The records seem to increasingly be embracing more and more acoustic instrumentation (filtered through STOL's lens of course) and I just love this classical vibe that's becoming more and more central to their aesthetic.
Anyways. It's great stuff. Very pleased. Probably will order the CD and the vinyl.

Free listen (at least for dutchies):
http://3voor12.vpro.nl/speler/luisterpa ... l.45128480
Don't know whether there's a filter for other countries, but at least dutch twoismers should be able to listen.
www.luisterpaal.nl is also recommended to check for other music, they have some decent stuff every now and then (again, maybe only for dutchies).

My CD arrived yesterday, along with a beautiful poster.
One more for the 'to be framed' pile.
