Crazy, all the length of time ive been a member of this forum Ive never really seen whos into the good old game of footie! Come to think of it the only topic that ive seen that has been sports related was the hockey thread!
I can appreciate that the board is largely music orientated, and thats what got me here, its not a sports or football forum but afterall this is this random sound. Well I guess we can randomly chat about anything
Im intreagued to see what you lot say and think.
So.......
Whos everyone rooting for in this summers World Cup??
Predictions?
Im really looking forward to it but always ask myself will England win it in my lifetime? Anyway, im just looking forward to watching some great teams play good football. I think the usual will happen with our boys in that we will do well but lose out on penalties or just not get the luck we never seem to get!! Will we get the rub of the green this time around? This is probably the best squad weve had since 66 but I feel the players dont spend enough time training/playing together as a team. Very good individually but together?? Time will tell, theyre very young.
I appologise to any hardcore music lovers (who may not be into sports) for wasting your time!

Yeah, I hope England will win. It wouldn't be unusual if we didn't though

I was wondering when this topic would finally show up. I myself am a fan of "football" despite my being a dirty Yank. But hey, we are ranked #5 in the world rankings. Yeah, I'd also like to see England do well. Frankly, I'd just like to see someone new win, since Brazil has won 2 of the 3 World Cups that I've been able to see.

man, football used to be my life before music took over... i don't follow it anymore; but i definitely will try to watch as many games as possible. Mexico is my team (i also like the Dutch), and i predict it will obliterate...
itself as usual

Yeah cant wait for the world cup. Pity Ireland arnt in it though cause the Irish know how to stoke things up a bit. I will be rooting for England though. I'm a Sunderland supporter - so those of you in the know can send your sympathies and/or derision

Must admit. I am a fan of the Dutch team. Youve got a rather tough group as well id say:
Serbia & montenegro
Ivory Coast
ARGENTINA

Ouch!
I think England have as good a chance as they ever had, but it seems to always come down to luck for them. I'd like to see them do well though. But please just don't go on about it all the time if you win! But i think the best chance lies with Argentina and Holland. Both have crackin squads.

Nah. don't fancy them. They're relying too much on ageing stars. And if you take away their forwards their squad is pretty poor. Of course it would be stupid to write them off...

I have been diluted enough by 20 odd years living in Ireland to make sure that if Ing-ger-lund win it wont go to my head. This 'England expects' nonsense and the fact that the pundits still bang on about '66 is really annoying I know.

I'm as patriotic as the next England fan BUT can't see past Argentina (and it pains me to say that).
William Hills (the bookies) are laying odds of 4-1 that Crouch does the "Robokop" three times during the tournament.
That's at least 4-1 that he'll actually score three or more goals.
Which is quite funny.

My money's on Brazil beating Germany in the final.
3rd place going to England or Italy.
Would love to see Holland and Spain do well, but I reckon they'll disappoint again.
France will be poor.
Expect the Aussies and USA to do suprisingly well.
There's my 2p worth!

...

What do you mean? In the changing rooms?
Anyway, that first game was exciting. Germany's last goal was amazing!
