Daylight Rain - Lazurite EP

Image

Lazurite is the debut EP under project Naal's Daylight Rain pseudonym. From the very start we are introduced to dipping chords, pitching melodies and beautiful twinkles which are thematic throughout and appear to glide and phase patiently via perfectly dusted magnetic tape.

Daylight Rain somehow manages to squeeze in countless amounts of sound yet nothing overpowers, every little speck of vibration pays compliment to its audible neighbour with perfection. Emerald Jet highlights this with aplomb, every component finds its way into some kind of imaginary space with ease. Motion Fix could well have been the product of one of Lone's more summer haze-infused moments. The gorgeous Lake Discovered allows dreamlike echoes of funk and disco to sneak out from under the surface whilst Carpet Void's beats skitter to a backdrop of extremely soothing and breathy vocals. Rododendron completes the EP with a flourish, steadily brooding along before a spray of arpeggiated bleeps introduce themselves, circulating semi-chaotically and aptly summing up Daylight Rain's ability to seamlessly switch between and fuse the subtle with the energetic. A truly great listen.

It's here finally! I must apologise to those waiting very patiently for this and the Boreal Network release (which I will put up this Sunday). This is superb by the way, even if you're not familiar with Daylight Rain I highly recommend you get this! 8)

Oh yes this sounds very lush. Downloading and will listen soon! There is a theme for my birth year too. I listened to these while back in Soundcloud and luckily we got em' as a nice high quality pack and free for download. Awesome. Cannot wait for your new release to drop either 8)

Thanks man, some of these tracks have also never appeared on the SoundCloud page, pure quality all the way through!

I know, finally eh! Sorry for keeping you and Naal waiting for longer than you should have done, things kept getting in the way!

Please show some love if you like this (which if you download it, I'm sure you will do), I know I released this in quick succession with the Boreal Network release but I don't want this one to be drowned out as a result as it's equally brilliant.

This owes so much to Lone it's not even funny, but it's too good to hold that against it.

emerald jet is the best song I've heard all year, and sounds a lot different than anything else on the ep. very disorienting yet euphoric.

Yeah , I must admit that a great deal of inspiration came from Lone's music, there is no denying that.
And that is of course pretty obviously audible on some of tracks.
But I guess your comment also implies that it is not just a shameless copy, and does have some uniqueness to it. So thanks for the compliment I'd say.
Besides , if you listen to Lone's latest output, you could say that it doesn't really sound alike that much anymore.

But thanks for the honest opinion. I've only been hearing positive feedback so it's nice to hear some critique. Because I was starting to think I've sort of been preaching to the choir with this music.

Assuming you listen to a lot of music and are a demanding listener and have also heard a lot of topshelf productions this year, I can only be thrilled to hear that this track is your favorite this year.
And the year still ain't over yet !

Also , I want to say that I've not been able to make a lot of new tracks this year, so an eventual LP might take a little longer than I had planned.
Sure , I've got a lot of tracks already, but nothing that I am completely satisfied with atm.
But I'm going to try and upload some new things when ready.
Peace !

Do you offer the latest releases to blogs/music review and whatnot ?
Cause I'd love to read a full review on this....

I've had some small music review blogs get in touch and do reviews in the past but I don't really have any contacts, but this is definitely something I'd like to do! I've got in touch with the big reviewers in the past, Textura and the like without much success, but if anyone can point me in the direction of people/websites to ask...I'll definitely give it a go!

Yeah you should give it go !
But don't send it to pitchfork , they'll probably give it a 4.3 or something. :)

The lower the score the better where Pitchfork are concerned! It just wouldn't be punk rock organic hybridstep wicked witch house enough for them ;) And Basepair if you wanted to put a review thingy up for this on Phuturelabs that would be awesome, I really appreciated the Midmir one you did!

Just letting people know that I've made one of my private tracks on soundcloud public. :
Curtain Bliss
Made this about a year ago for a possible split EP with Airliner.
I also have a remix of an Airliner track made around the same time , should I make it available too?
Because that split EP is probably not gonna happen anymore.
