Indiana-based Jared VanMatre is the youngest artist we have had on our release roster to date and at only 14-years-old, could be considered something of a prodigy with his ability to create such accomplished and gorgeous music with extremely polished production to boot.

Following on from the Eternal album recently released on his SoundCloud page with heaps of praise from its listeners, Gander is the latest chapter in this rapidly evolving musical adventure. The intro track Airwaves flows at a perfectly steady momentum, glowing keys and bright guitar calmly shift into a key change saturated in euphoria - an epic crescendo that really sets the high standard Gander sticks to throughout. The elegantly stripped-back piano work of Untitled sits seamlessly between the beat-infused Carbon Based-Lifeform and looping, delicately askew Red Oak. Mackeral Sky closes Gander as it commenced with a mood enhancing finale that leaves a thirst to listen all over again.

Beautiful, uplifting stuff from this young and extremely promising producer.

Feels safe to see the kid becoming a part of the Retronym family.

Airwaves is of course a stand-out track and I like how the structure with the full-release ending seems to be a recurring theme in some of the other compositions too. Mackeral Sky is an other track I really liked on the first listen. Good work!

Listened to the first few tracks and really liked them, didn't have time to finish it, and don't have time today either, 2 basketbal matches. Tomorrow though, I'm gonna listen to the EP and will be blown away.

Airwaves was initially my favourite, that key change towards the end is just superb. I think Tundra is growing to be my favourite track now though, it just sounds so lush! Such a great release, listened to it tons!

Also the skittering claps in Red Oak rather remind me of Radiohead's 15 Step!

Nice stuff Synthestesia! Going to have a proper listen to this too when I get the chance but from what I've heard so far, this sounds quite accomplished and polished indeed, some really warm melodies already. I enjoy the Retronym releases, you guys have really consistent output. Good artwork on this too . : )

Oh my! This is shockingly good.

I shouldn't be surprised given the quality of Eternal, but this feels like another step up. Love the slight echoes of Helios and the way the end of Airwaves reminds me of the music in Twin Peaks.

Do you have any formal training in music? I only ask because your arranging, pacing and use of space and dynamics is so perfectly judged. At your age I was out riding my bike, playing Space Invaders and thrashing about on a drum kit with no understanding of what worked in music at all!

I think the last track "Mackeral Sky" is one of your best tracks so far. It's has a very mature sound and it seemed longer then the other tracks, which I liked.

First time I've given this a complete proper listen, totally forgot about this.

Once again, I really like this. Airwaves and Tundra are the standout tracks for me, but as a whole it's great as well. Definately eager to hear a new full length from you!
