Lifelong gifts..

Hey guys,
Just a shout out for any suggestions (all are welcome!).
My brother has just recently completed his PhD and I really wanna get him some kind of really worthwhile 'keep for life'-stylee gift. Any suggestions? Or places to look?

Yeah something engraved is always good. Got a lovely hip flask set for ushering my sister's wedding - made a wonderful gift.

Photo album is always nice I find, because once it is filled with photographs it's always going to be a prized possession.
Something hand made or crafted too.

I may accompany the gift with a (long) personal letter e.g. why you admire/love him. Although a gift says a lot without words, I cherish those personal messages the most.

perhaps combine the camera idea with the engraving idea so all his pictures have the aftermath of an engraved lense on them...

Wow- thx for all the feedback. Wasn't expecting such a good response - thanks amigos! ^_^
I like the camera idea, actually, as he's trying to set up an online shop to sell prints of his work; and i've heard of this 'Lomography' trend that sounds kind of fun (well worth Googling!)
I'll let ya know what I go for!

proper watch is an essential life item. I actually feel less of a man without one and I mean that literally.

A proper watch is an essential life item. I actually feel less of a man without one and I mean that literally.

Yeah I decided to go for a lomography camera.. in true BoC-fan fashion!
