Hey all,

I'm new to this forum and also to BOC. In 2002 when I first heard of Boards of Canada some girl I was dating told me they were a teen pop-punk band, she was sadly mistaken, but this information unfortunately led me to overlook them for many years. Actually I have been searching for the song roygbiv for years after hearing it played in a restaurant I was working at, and a few times since at random locations. Finally a month ago a friend of mine was playing it in the car, and I freaked out and was like 'who the hell is that?'.

Since then I have devoured their entire catalog. I thought I had heard it all when I am browsing through the Boards of Canada pages at what.cd and see several LPs EPs and bootlegs that are requested with an ultra high bounty. Closes vol.1 in particular is especially high with over 1TB of bounty. Since then I have been really interested (actually 'fascinated' would be the better word here) and confused by their unreleased early albums. So I have so many questions, and searching on here has answered a lot of them, here are some that I can't get a definite answer on:

1. Has any official spokesperson, or the band itself, ever actually confirmed the existence of any of these purported early releases, or is it just conjecture?

2. If so, has there been any word, whether positive or negative, on the possibility of any of these releases being re-released in the future?

3. Why is the album 'Random 35 Tracks Tape' generally considered to be an authentic Boards of Canada release, when so many others have turned out to be fake and recordings of other bands?

Can't help you with that. Must be pure speculation.

random tape was confirmed as being legit. but noone knows what it is. i think it must be some demo from before twoism as originally speculated.

anyone who knows boards and has listened to random35track must be able to see the correlation, but I was aware anyone actually confirmed it, anyway, while we're on the subject of r35trktp, its reaally reaally really good, maybe its just because I only discovered it a few month ago when I'd worn out every other album I had, but I genuinely think that some of the tracks are better than some off the official albums.
