Anyone else been listening to that new Kuedo record on PLanet Mu yet?
Pretty decent record. Definitely echoes of Vangelis in there. But aye it's a bit removed from Vex'd alright.

Yep, I've heard the album all the way through. It's a great idea....crossing that vangelis sound with the 808 thing, As I read with one reviewer it maybe is a bit too long at 15 tracks and wanes slightly at the end but definitely one of the better records i've heard this year.

I'd like to put in a word about this album as well if that's alright. I listened to some of this record around the time it was first out and it really stood out, in both the style and the straight, raw production - it's almost the opposite of what I've usually heard from mixes, and all the better for it.

As mentioned the synth lines definitely have the Vangelis sound, but it's the way in which the 808 is programmed - Footwork influenced patterns with the hi-hat or snare rim doing overtime, sometimes ultra-fast and almost grindingly rapid in tempo - that makes this. I'd say it sounds like speedy clockwork - ticking away the split seconds and making everything surge forward.

There is one track, 'Flight Path', where the bass synth line is very Blade Runner. So you have the 1980s vision of the future in the synths, meets the actual now in the 808 sequencing - that is the tone of the album. I try not to fuss over genre if I can help it - but if I did, I think I'd still say it cannot be categorised

I really don't search high and low for new albums generally, but I stumbled upon this and it stands out for its particular sound, enough that I thought I should add a comment here - an interesting record and I'd recommend a listen.
