I find this scary as shit. hardly anyone in my community, not even my co-workers seem to care about this. think back to 1999.... world population just reached 6 billion. by 2011 it's already at 7. it won't even take another 10 years until we have another billion.

Really makes you wonder. What's gonna happen in the next 25 years economically, with our food, water, jobs. I think we're entering one of the most interesting times in human history. Even more so than when Yanni was popular... was Yanni ever popular?

In the bookshop a couple of years ago someone tried to give me crisp new £1 note when buying something. Obviously no longer legal tender but I bought it off them (for £1) and its now pinned to the wall in my studio.

The other thing that scares me when I think about it, (and it's not really about the population doubling in my lifetime, but that folds nicely into it) is the thought that if we had to start all over again, for some reason, on the earth, we no longer have all the raw materials required to get back to the point we're at now. All the oil, the coal, the gas, the easily mineable mineral resources... what we've used, if anything happens to that we're screwed.

And here is the point of the website - the issue at hand. Things will change, eventually, because they have to. 10 years ago, most people in the UK wouldn't have entertained solar panels on their roof. Today, they're popping up all over the place. 20 years ago, fuel economy would never have sold a car, today it's my first concern (£££). There are examples everywhere you look of things slowly, slowly changing. However, food will become THE issue - even more than it is already. Look at how food prices are currently rocketing in the West due to demand and a couple of dodgy harvests. Now add in another 3+ billion people and the effect of global warming on crops. You don't need to be a genius to see where this is heading.

It's really interesting but also so worrying how fast we are filling up our planet. I find it terrifying to think by the time I am 40 there could be 9 billion people on earth, if current trends go on.
