Headphones with best high-frequencies?

I just got a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-M35's (which I've been quite excited about) but I'm a little disappointed to find that the upper registers seem muted. For years and years I've been using a pair of old Sony MDR-V2's from the 1980's, and let me tell ya, while they're a bit weak on the bass, those things have SUPERB reproduction of the mid and high registers, with mind-blowing clarity. I've tried numerous other headphones and nothing seems to compare with them.
Any recommendations?

5-35,000 is pretty awesome. Pretty high end stuff.

I was going to say the same. A friend of mine has Beyerdynamic headphones(not sure which type) as well. Compared to my HD590 Sennheiser it is much better at the higher frequencies.

Can I just add that I also own the Sennheiser HD280 mentioned above and they are possibly my favorite things in the whole World. Tough as teak, sound as big as a ocean liner and probably the cause of my tinnitus. Sen-freakin-sational headphones.

Could not agree more. I recently replaced the ear pads for them. The originals were literally dangling off. It's like I brought them back to life, man! They sound just as good as when I first bought them!

AH! So glad you mentioned that. Didn't know you could do that. Mine are starting to go too.

I've already got my 2nd pair of ear pads and 3rd wire for my Sennheiser HD590
Headphone is 10 years old now and I use them more than 14 hours a week so that's not a big deal at all!

Yeah, I just ordered my new earpads. Will probably order a new cable at some point too. LOVE my Sennheisers!

The hard part is finding a replacement head band pad. Mine's starting to fall off.

Is the head band pad removable? Mine is so I removed it and I untied the fabric, removed the weared out foam and replaced it with some weather strip - now it's just like new again.

Yeah, it has what looks like a zip-loc mechanism on top that holds it on. Unfortunately it's ripping apart. Weather stripping is a good call.

Mine has been working off for a while now. Tried super-glue. Needless to say that didn't work for long.
Anyway, can't help feeling we've hijacked the thread here!! lol

But you can't hear above 22khz? what are you secretly putting in those 13k of inaudible herz?

2)
HD 280 SILVER
I've got the silver ones but they really are worn out now. The ear pads are loose and the head band is taped badly. Time for a replacement...
What's the difference between PRO and SILVER?

Looks to me like the color. You can order new ear pads. It's amazing how much a difference such a thing makes.

From my personal experience, just about anything by Grado. They make some fantastic cans.
