Another new electronic music fad, in the vein of chillwave and witch-house.

Most of the music seems pretty average right now, but I think the goofy, cheesy aesthetic is fun and that the idea itself has some potential.

Apparently the general idea is that it's like chillwave with a more '90s rave sense of energy. But really most of it is sounding like future-garage stuff mixed with chillwave. Which is kind of lame.

heard about it a few months ago. seems to be one of those "genres" that exist solely through tumblr and last.fm and reminds me of when people made house music with panflutes and shit and called it dolphin.

Electronic music needs to learn that everytime you change a BPM it doesn't require a new genre.

Whatever happened to just calling it electronic music? Everyone has to be clever and come up with the most ridiculous sounding name for their "genre".

Next genre will be called DesertPop, or ConcreteJazz, or DogWave, yeah DogWave, just a bunch of Dogs barking to a generic Hip Hop beat all glitched. Then have your video be a house party with storbe lights and teenagers drinking out of red party cups all through the view of a fish eye lens.

It definitely is unnecessary and dumb. But I think that in this case, it's really self-aware of that.

I really don't think it will be around long, or that anyone truly considers it a real genre.

I'm all for it if this means we get new sounds in the clubs. Name is stupid though.
