Well, the whole world is talking about her so why can't we?

Really, all joking aside, I know you may be a little burned out from reading her name everywhere after the Grammys but please understand: I have heard Adele just a couple of months ago, right about when she was having her throat problems.

And since I've come to the party this late I can't but express my joy even though the rest are pretty much bored with it. But really, I love that gal. 21 is not precisely an amazing album, I have heard it and I love some songs, I like some others and I skip through most of them. But I do believe she has an amazing talent and even more amazing is her presence in the mainstream pop world. It's like Radiohead releasing In Rainbows with the "pay what you want" thing. I find it amazing that she can just stand in with just a piano and blow everyone's hearts and still be recognised by the mainstream.

I've watched the Grammys' last couple of minutes enough to see Lady Gaga's face while Adele was picking up all the awards and it was priceless. It was the definitive moment in which everyone finally realised music is about feeling and not marketing. For that, I believe Adele winning is much more important than Arcade Fire winning a mainstream award because this has a real potential in actually changing some things that need to be change within the music bussiness.

I did once joke that each copy of her album should come with a free bottle of gin and a dozen cats. But to be fair, if my Mrs really has to play something 'of hers' in the car, I'd sooner it was this than the likes of Dido (remember her?). She seems like she's got her heard screwed on and her feet on the ground and I can't deny she's got a fantastic voice.

THAT song has suffered from complete saturation though.

Well it's pop, and she'd be the first to admit it is, but it's pop from before "pop" became a dirty word. More to the point she's got a great voice, writes the bulk of her own stuff and it comes from a truthful place lyrically, so she's got a heck of a lot more credibility than a load more acts I could name. The tunes are good, and she gives it her all when she performs AND in the face of meteoric success managed to keep her head on straight. Yeah, there's a lot of good to be said about Adele.

I'd rather listen to Adele than 99.9% of whats in the charts. Some of her songs hers are good, like Chasing Rainbows and Set Fire to the Rain but the 2 big chart hits have been done to death! I haven't heard the albums though as it's not the kind of stuff I associate myself with, if you get my drift.

I think it's cool that a down to earth bird from London has conquered both sides of the Atlantic. Good luck to her I say.

But, yeah, Adele is nice. I immensely enjoy "Cold Shoulder" because the strings and percussion remind me of Massive Attack's "Unfinished Sympathy".

You know, I was intending to say that exact same thing and I forgot. Glad I'm not the only one seeing it!

Really dig her music, I'm happy she gets this much exposure - hopefully she'll keep on and in a good direction.

I don't hate it. I don't listen to her when I'm in control over the music I hear though.

Yup. I just about don't hate it. Wouldn't be overjoyed at having to sit through it though.

I'm a metalhead, I know nothing of pop, all that frippery that bloomed in the 80's please die.

However I love Adele, great personality, yeah fuck you Lagerfeld, beautiful lady, great voice and refreshing vibe, I like it.

Would I buy it? No, but My daughter (she's a semi-pro singer) sings her songs and it just touches me.

Way to go girl, avoid the pitfalls and seize the day!

I like her - good, well written, well produced pop music. Last single (?) was played to death on the radio, but Rolling in the Deep is a fantastic tune. She comes across really well too.

Much as I love to immerse myself in noisy guitars, electronic drones and long haired Germans from the 70s, I absolutely LOVE good pop music.

Actually i'd rather listen to most things other than coldplay.

This was my first time hearing her because of OP's link. That made me tingle all over, very beautiful.

my gf likes much more main stream music than I do.. I give other music a listen sometimes just to see what is going on but it isn't where I do most of my active listening etc.

Anyway I went to bed early the other night which is unusual for me and suddenly I was awakened by the sound of piano.. quite jarring really. But it was my girlfriend learning Someone. She is a good piano player and had it in about 30 minutes. It was quite lovely listening to her play. Gave me more of a fondness for the song itself really.
