I know there is already a topic about this but the other one just says july warp newsletter, so I thought I'd start an official one. When do you guys think it will be available for pre-order? I am very curious how this will sound compared to Geogaddi (which is my favorite album).

I thought about making a topic called:
<i>"New Board of Canada album coming up in October"</i> but as there already was a topic about it I couldn't be bothered. Although I posted my reply 1 minute after huphtur.

I know the subject huphtur chose isn't really eye catching, but it should not make any difference for the people who visit this board on a regular base.

Are you serious? I thought a lot of people think geo is their best.

Geogaddi IS the best.

I also think Geogaddi is the best. It's just... richer, warmer, deeper...
Second comes A Beautiful Place Out In The Country. I don't like Twoism.

I wonder if there will be any extra goodies with the new album like a promo cd, bonus disc, or a Japenese version with a bonus track(s)? Damn, I want it all! I'm feeling really optimistic about it now, hey maybe they'll even tour. That's what most bands do after a record release, but then again BoC aren't most bands.

Remember when Geogaddi was released it was premired in six churches all around the world. That would be dope if they did something like that again for the fans. Sorry for all this nonsense, i'm just daydreaming. I wish I could just block it out of my mind until it's released to prevent any dissapointment. I highly doubt i'll be disappointed though, not one of thier releases ever have.

Yeah this waiting sucks. It's only been a week since it's been announced and it feels like a month.

My birthday is October 24th...
I wish October 18th will be the Japanese release date and SIX days later(24th) it will be put out in Europe.

So damn excited right now, its not even funny.

And if they toured...oh wow, can't even imagine.

Just curious since I came along rather late, (Geogaddi was already out for nearly a year once I caught on) what's it like when the lads put out a new album? I sometimes find it worrysome because of the expectations that we sometimes put on a new release. Especially after Geogaddi.

i kinda like that they don't tour. makes it even more mysterious about who these guys really are etc

ive heard so many , on cd beautiful subtile magical , idm turn into rubbish live.. it's not evne funny anymore. most of the time because of the much too high volume. fennesz was the dissapointment. but the peel session sounded amazingly good. maybe they did some studio-editing on that work later though but i have enough reason to not ignore them if they would come to holland allthough it is their biggest change to kill the magic.

I don't think that listening to cd is better than the live show, it just needs to be done right...

yeah i can agree with that but i have not seen many really good idm live-shows. so far the subtile type was always punished by the too high volume or bad trackcchoice except a lovely "u-cover" show in a small venue in haarlem in the end of 2004.
venetian snares btw suffered from volume limitation rules but was still really succesfull with his total enjoyment ofpunishment theatre. much more intense than a cd-listening experience can ever reach imo.

You're right, not very much idm transfers to live performance very well, but this is Boards of Canada we're talking about! If anyone has the ability to take it to the next level in a live show, these guys do.

I agree as well about how the lack of shows adds to their enigmatic status. However, I could see them dropping a couple of well-timed, obsure, under-the-radar shows that just absolutely melt face, and then disappear back into oblivion. And thus, the lure continues...

Don't be so surprised if that is what happens...
