Personally, I find the idea of this product disturbing, but maybe I'm just getting old and that's what old people say about any new technology.

In any case, this is the second tech-related promotional item I've seen this song used for. What's going on here? I don't normally think of Bibio as tech-y music. I think of it as warm and personal music. Perhaps that's the marketing strategy.

I agree with the product being disturbing. it is an oxymoron for me to watch a commercial for something that advertises unnecissary technology (the idea of being connected to everything everywhere, not just phsycially, but electronically. like having a home computer or smart phone isn't enough, now we're going to put it right in your face.) all while listening to Bibio, which I consider to be the exact opposite of everything in that ad. pretty soon we'll have app eye implants. how sad.

This is disgusting. It pains me to hear Bibio's music used like this...

If I can use this anonymously I'd take one (as in, a browser/mp3player/memory recorder). It seems like something from an episode of "black mirror" though.

Sign of the times I'm afraid. Nobody is paying for music, apart from 'the man' it seems.

I noticed Adam Wiltzie recently ringing his hands in horror at 'selling out' and letting Mercedes/Audi (I forget now) use The Dead Texan on their latest advertisement. And lest we forget, BOC haven't been above this either.

Once upon a time, another band I loved 'sold out' and let Orange use one of their tracks on another ad. It literally paid for their 'wages' for the next five years, build their own studio and record another two albums.

Re technology:
In the not too distant future, you'll be able to think of an artist, then think of an album by that artist, and the music will play in your head.

This is very close, and they're just trying to streamline it, by removing the possibility of you thinking of anything else while this is happening, apart from the odd sponsoring advert from toyota and the like.

I knew the song sounded familiar.

There's no way I'd ever blame bibio or boc for their songs ending up in a commercial. That's a decision that probably came from some guy in an ad company who also liked the music, and as a benefit for bibio or boc, they get more exposure and (hopefully) decent royalties. If anything, I blame the ad agency for the mismatched choice, or I just rue the fact that some music I like is now going to be remembered by some people I know as "oh yeah, that google glasses commercial music".

I heard bibio has an amazing bass amp! And billions of dollars! And he lives in a large house on the beach!

It's Google, not a McDonalds commercial. As long as the company is respectable and an artist isn't just reaching for money, I have no qualms with their decisions.

Same thing as Massive Attack in a car commercial. Sounds weird to begin with, but they're politically aware so I'm sure they researched the company before lending the tune.

Him playing it on the rooftop really drives the nails into that songs coffin! The death force finds a way of masquerading its sinister intention by producing that contrast. Take away that track and step back for a second,..all of a sudden you have an ocean of philosophical questions to ask yourself. This little abject world of communication for the sake of communication. Your mind is being outsourced. You are being dissolved now into a useless layer of fragmentary awareness.
