I just read that this film Samsara is being released right now all over the US and the UK.

It's written and directed by Ron Fricke, who was the cinematographer for Kowaanisqatsi and the writer/director of Baraka. It serves as a sequel of sorts to the whole Kowaanisqatsi trilogy as well as Baraka.

I figured anyone who's a fan of these films would love to see Samsara, and I'm psyched because it's playing in my town on Friday. I always wanted to see these movies on the big screen, and I think this sequel is shaping up to be the most epic of them all.

Looks beautiful! I re-watched Baraka the other day, it was just as powerful as when I first saw it 6 years ago!

I saw this last week actually, it's really quite incredible. There're many layers of interpretation but, unlike with other movies of this kind, I found it very easy to digest. A few of the images really stick with you as well, namely the crying Geisha and the dancer in Beijing with all the arms.

This looks rather awesome. I've seen Baraka a few times and had no idea there was a sequel in the works, so thanks for the heads up! Luckily it's being shown a 30 minute drive away from me in two weeks. Definitely won't miss it.

This looks great, I'm going to have to try and see this sometime. I've only seen Koyaanisqatsi and that was great.

This is showing in Calgary this Friday! It looks great, so I'm hoping I can make some time to go see the film.

Thank you for the post.

Not to double post, but I do highly recommend seeing this film if you can. Saw it last weekend.

This one has a vaguely similar format but is purely about insect life;
MICROCOSMOS - The Grass People.
(dont forget to select 720p) :)

Haha, the weird stuff while tripping yes. Insects? Not so much.

I just bought Samsara on Monday and it arrived today. I can't wait to get off work and watch it tonight!
