no offence to the user(s) who've thought up the apoclyptic/nuclear idea, but nobody's ever really predicted BoC's next direction accurately...

This is getting interesting now! Of course, perhaps that same site has been sitting there for almost 4 years and we just now noticed it... Speaking of which, how did you happen to find that, Guido?

whatever this new clear dawn site is, i like it! i must say, the graphic design reminds me of the cover of in a beautiful place out in the country, with the images lined up like that. plus the type reminds me of their t-shirt design quite a bit.

and this FNORD concept is fascinating and terrifying to me. new clear dawn / nuclear dawn. i love this! i hope its something significant!

I have a few thoughts on this, but they're just speculation. Firstly, I wouldn't be at all surprised if a new Boards album was apocalypse-themed. As mentioned a while ago, the Warp banner could have been a hint, combining a mushroom cloud with a logo that looked like it was peeled from a battered nuclear bunker.

The idea of the world ending is particularly acute in modern/pop culture too, I think (though each generation, it seems, is convinced the world will end shortly). So, this'd be a good time to play off all of those conscious and unconscious fears so many people have regarding 2012, etc. If you haven't been to a popular book store recently, just go to the new age section and check out all of the books on 2012...it's quite ridiculous, really.

Anyhow, when I read your translations, I immediately thought of our current, unexplained solar minimum (the Sun is remarkably inactive at the moment), and some fringe theories suggesting that it may be followed by an unprecedented solar maximum, possibly at a level which could disrupt electronic equipment or worse. Not saying I buy into this, but it's another one of those ideas floating in the ether, and a potentially catastrophic solar maximum is not beyond reason.

Another thought that came to mind was the Hopi view that we are currently entering the Fifth World, and leaving the Fourth. More detail here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fifth_Worl ... mythology). This is essentially rooted in the idea that endings are always coupled with beginnings, and that opposites define one another; life with death, light with dark, "threshold" moments, etc. Personally, I'm very attracted to this way of thinking, and have great respect for the Hopi.

So, the title "New Clear Dawn" exhibits both opposites in a play on words. Quite clever if that's the purpose.
I've actually read a fair amount regarding the Hopi and their take on the new 'age' if you will - I was reading up on a certain prophecy apparently pertaining to the 2012 catastrophe idea.. It was interesting reading the explanations of the 9 stages of this prophecy, all of which have been very accurate so far (depending on how you take the translations of course). According the the Mayans we are soon to enter the 5th world or age, I don't buy into any sort of apocalypse theories but I do believe there is more to it than a simple explanation.. Its baffling to read about predictions that were made hundreds and thousands of years ago and are actually accurate.

The media is partially if not mostly to blame for the rise in doomsday and apocalypse 'theories'. I tend to lean towards the fascinating and groundbreaking science that no one ever hears about and relate it to what I can see and feel.

The more I think about it the more I'm convinced that the day before the proclaimed 'end of the world', that people are going to be crazed beyond belief.. My friend actually just showed up, so we are going to relax and chill out!

More later!

im sure it doesn't but with all that has been written...it doesn't seem like its outside the realm of possibility.

but i'd like to know how this site would have even been stumbled on to. what would the person who found it have been looking for?

Magic Brenda wrote:The only trouble now is that MDG is gonna say "I've had this FUCKING SONG stuck in my head all day" and Boc will go "What's that then?" and he'll play them that and they'll say "SHIIIIIT, we've been going about this new album all wrong, innit?" and thus it'll be delayed another millennia while they re-write it from scratch. Possibly based purely from samples of Lesley Gore, Millie Small and maybe Aqua.
i'd hold out another geological era for that kind of album.

but yeah... i'm not really keen on the apocalyptic themes myself. BoC may be hitting a very relevant cultural artifact if it turns out that's what they're doing, but i myself don't follow doomsday hearsay. i've always been afraid of catastrophic space events, though. like, really afraid of them.
What about that illuminati direction IEC was talking about.
That could be a possible direction where BoC is heading, maybe even linked with a hint of a apocalyptic theme, as illuminati seem to be into these days as well.

I don't know, I'm guessing too, as we're all are.

MDG to the rescue please!!

That make sense :D thank you. I'm a real noob at this, but the date this page expires doesn't have to do anything with the new record I guess? (29-10-2009)

Still, its an extremely weird logo. The four pictures just look... random.

Unfortunately not. The domain was registered 4 years ago on the same day so it must be a standard 4 year registration term. Will be interesting to see if it is renewed or taken down though.
