Hip-hop, anyone?

Any of you guys listen to hip-hop? I didn't see anything about it, so I figured I'd make this.

Hip-hop isn't my most listened to genre, but I do play a lot of it. Some of my favorites are dälek, Atmosphere, Lupe Fiasco, Wu-Tang Clan, and Nas.

Come on, I'm sure there's more of you on here =D

Somehow, I've never listened to Grandmaster. I'm terrible D:

The other two are good. Especially Antipop Consortium. Good underground stuff, shame their new album isn't so great.

GZA/Genius also has good solostuff. Liquid Swords = badass. \m/

Everyone here should listen to dälek, full of dense sounds and "noise" and generally acceptable to metalheads worldwide. :3

i am an admitted beat fanatic. i go to meetings. some of my favorites:

- RJD2 - VID

- Zion I - VID

- Sage Francis - VID

- Aesop Rock - VID
- Atmosphere - VID
- Talib Kweli - VID
- Jurassic 5 - VID

...and pretty much everything released in the mid 90's by more well-known artists (beastie boys, bone-thugs, wu-tang, busta rhymes (is the shit), dr. dre, mos def) but i hardly listen to these guys anymore except on special occaisions (VID)

J Dilla, MF Doom, Madvillain, Blackalicious
Also Wu-Tang as well, can't forget them.

i used to listen to so much 'hiphop'...but nowadays the actual hiphop stuff is so formulaic it disgusts me so i pretty much listen to mostly instrumental/so called wonky end of things...
however there are still some dudes that are many steps ahead of the usual suspects for reasons that involve not only talent and some type of forward thinking, but they are also humble and make tangibly HONEST music that isn't just a collection of empty gestures...

-count bass d (the man)
-jneiro jarel/shape of broad minds
-john robinson (of scienz of life fame)
-madlib of course

there are so many classics it's hard to know where to even start, but i'm forever a large professor fan. he recently did a 90second joint on the new grand puba which is criminally short, but the epitomy of classic extra p. 9th wonder is also another dude i'm always checking...if anyone wants to hear the definition of butter, check his remix of pete rock & cl smooth's 'take you there', it's fucking amazing.

and...i gotta say, the big shots album by charizma/pb wolf has been rocking me for more than 5yrs straight. an incredible slice of hiphop that to me doesn't get it's rightful props as an all time masterpiece.

lately i snafued the stoopz'n'breeze debut, but the the lyrical/world view is retarded, which is a shame cuz some of the beats are amazing (some of them from beat maestro dak).

My hiphop experience is pretty much limited to Beastie Boys and cLOUDDEAD, so I'll definitely check out some of the stuff mentioned in this thread. Thanks for the recommendations.

lately the artists on cinnaman's and jay scarlett's "beat dimensions" have gotten my interest. samiyam especially, guy looks like super mario. also the "grimey" purple bristol sound (don't know if you'd constitute as hip hop) from the likes of joker. keaver and brause as well as kona triangle. keep in mind everything I've mentioned is instrumental. as far as mc's, I like black thought from the roots and atmosphere, although slug can get annoying sometimes.
