but the lighthouse show dates back to 2000. i dont think spiro is new. :/

well, why not? they've recreated a song from the past or just used some little snippets from it and created something new.. it's perfectly possible

anyways this loop is tickling my senses in a very positive way.. could this be the style they were talking about in that dutch interview: "nobody will expect this from us" ... dancy hypnotizing boc!

that would certainly be awesome! it's so hard to tell from this little snippet... but something tells me 747 got an overhaul as well, since it sounds to me like trans canada highway mixed with more shoegaze. which is EXACTLY what id want their new direction to be.

wow, I totally didn't expect that from this loop. Danceable BoC, OH YES, more please!

They make awesome beats. I think that would be an album style I would be really looking forward to.

I dont know what to think of it, could be fun them trying something like that, but I really dont want to wait this long for an album which could be just a big dissapointment.

I think any album that you are waiting for this intently as for a new BoC record is almost bound to have a slight bitter taste to it. For my part, I know I would have to take a few steps back once the album is out so that I can enjoy it a 100%. Though this did not quite work the same for me with Campfire Headphase, as this was just too poppy for my taste. It retained some elements that I associate with typical BoC but all in all I was really disappointed. I sincerely hope they go down a completely different path with their next one. Then it should be fine with me.

It wouldn't be the first time that they debut a track live and related it later, although in those cases it was only a year or so before release.

It sounds like it is being played at the wrong speed. If you speed the Lighthouse track up it's pretty dancable also.

Hmm. I don't know that I would particularly like a dance BoC type album. I mean to me, BoC spells old, nostalgic, and melodically relaxing. Let the billions of DJ's around the world handle to dance.

I can't really see most artists (and most definitely not BoC) reaching back to material they produced 9 years ago as the source of inspiration for a completely new body of work. So, I think this whole subject is a bit of a stretch.

It's akin to saying Autechre's unreleased track from 1991 signals their return to dry, repetative rhythms with funky, straight-forward 90's synths. They've explored that trail and know where it goes.

It's an interesting idea, but seeing as these loop tracks are intended for mixing purposes, maybe that's the reason it's pretty dancey. Personally I would be interested in hearing a dancey boc, or a couple of tracks within the 'journey', but I gotta admit when I first read that interview about the unexpected turn that the new album would take I really hoped -and still do- that boc were going to incorporate a jazz element

In terms of free-jazz logic anyways.

Boc + free-jazz logic.... mmm; that is a direction I would love to hear ;D Would also tie back to the whole 'music is maths' theme, but take it from an irregular mathematical platform.
