Hate's never good. There's a lot of negativity buzzing around this thread and others lately...
opinions are opinions, words are words, music is music. if you don't like it, someone else might, and vice versa. someone else might think your favorite song is rubbish.

I'm not mad. I used to get mad, but I am more chill than ever cause deep down, I know something good is in the future for BoC and all of us. By the way, chicken wings sound good right now.
Oh and SPIRO, I think was something funny they did. Not meant in a new direction.
Oh of course, I realize that this forum is the polar opposite of 4chan, but I don't see the harm in saying something that isn't totally rosy-cheeked positive, if you're being honest, sincere, and it's on topic. For example, I don't think the thread Oscillik made about Warp's (music industry's) possible demise and the future of BoC's releases was a terrible thing, even though Warp is definitely doing great.
This must be the quietest BoC have been since before the release of MHT... lol..
They were kinda quiet between geo and camp but wow nothing since may/june 2006, 3 years!
Except for 747 and this (may i say funny, odd, silly, throw people off track) 1 second loop.
Sure they'll have something out soon enough, not to worry
And then there it will be (what we all love about boc) another 3/4 years of this again

Okay, everyone in this thread should go listen to these samples, specifically the loops for all the tracks we know and love. Listening to the loop for Telephasic Workshop is absolute shit if judged on it's own, and by no means has any bearing on the actual track.
So the idea that BoC's next album will be dance is shit.
As has been said here before, the locked-groove records, if you actually want to take them out of the sleeves, are ideal for a DJ setup with two turntables and a mixer. Since the loops are all at the same BPM (pitch adjustment at 0), you can mix some great sounds together with just the two ten-inchers alone very easily...even more fun with other vinyl thrown in.
That's what exclusively locked-groove vinyl is for.
That said, Warp likely included them because of their analog to the Moebius loop theme. I think it was a great idea.
i see that unfortanetely you guys are bickering throughout most of the thread, rather than talking about how incredible the LIVE version of spiro is.
until recently the only boc bootleg i had was All Tomorrows Party's, now i have warp and lighthouse, and have been really intrigued by the awesome setlists.
anyway, spiro played and i couldn't help but love it.. it has so much going on though, i really can't describe how eerie the chopped up voices make the song, but the melody and drums are just so incredible
my question is, does anybody know what the voices are saying? i dont see any discussion at all on spiro at bocpages and i'd really like to know more if anyone has info. this has got to be one of my favorite boards of canada tracks now after listening a few times.
and remember, i am talking about the live track, not the 1.8 second loop that everyone got all uptight about.

I was bored so I mastered Spiro for anyone who would like a copy. I love this song a lot so I wanted something more listenable!
-Panning is closer towards middle as opposed to right
-Low-end noise gate
-Bass frequencies centered and slightly compressed for low-end punch
-Lowered some selected mids (intro organ synth was too painfully piercing IMO)
-General clarity touch-ups
