yeah... but the tuss really was RDJ. and you could tell! VHS Head = "OOH! it's anonymous! And it's on skam! Must be Mike!" it would be really cool if it were him, but i dont really think it is...

^^^ Proof that The Tuss is RDJ.

If VHS Head is actually Boards of Canada, you would find the song titles listed in Marcus and/or Michael's page on this site. I looked and they aren't there. This site is handy for dispelling rumors eh?

i've read in no less than 4 reviews of the vhs head ep that it might be boards. reliable websites! i did entertain the possibility but whatever. it does kind of have a bibio vibe.

the association is so powerful for an artist. its comical.

what about real vhs head? how does he feel? what kind of foundation is this?

i mean, i dont doubt that if mike or marcus wanted to make this kind of music, they could. the fact that it sounds pretty much nothing like boards actually makes it more plausible to me. but unless the rumor is actually based on something, then i see no reason to believe it. you gotta wonder where and why this rumor started to begin with. there are a number of skam artists that are completely anonymous, so why is this one in particular pegged as boards? by the way, do you have links to those reviews, dave? id like to check them out.

I remember when people started saying Tobacco of BMSR was Mike or Marcus, or a member of Hexagon Sun.

lol.

I dismissed the possibility of BOC being behind it due to the grammar of the quote on the Pitchfork review:

'It might be a little surprising to learn that current speculation revolves around VHS Head actually being a pseudonym-cloaked member of Boards of Canada, so a few more listens might be in order here'

-- The fact that the reviewer said 'member' seems to imply to me that he might not be that schooled up on BOC, otherwise surely it'd make more sense to put it a different way: One of the BOC brothers / One of the Sandison brothers behind BOC etc....

I picked up the release nonetheless - s'good! ^_^

Honestly, who knows. Whomever made the EP is definitely an experienced vetran though. The cutting and sampling is first rate...very coherant and varied, not sporadic or amateur. Seems a bit reminiscent of the sample use in Pete Standing Alone (IE: delibrate, mathematical and precise slicing) if any BoC comparison could be made. The sound is very warm as well, but I'd imagine that'd happen by default if you were sampling old VHS tapes.

I've just wet myself. This is the argument against pushing things to download-only, and I want this. iTunes will never satisfy case lust.

skam always has such nice packaging.

it appears by this poll this rumor is bullshit, and no one is happy about it, as usual.

flibbertygibbets upon those responsible!thank you for participating.

joe it was also mentioned in the bookmat review and some other places.

bumping this : this is interesting, that track at the end that lists off the names of actors, I did some googling / looking up and found this movie :

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086377/

That creepy / altered voice is reading the credits straight down. Interesting, no?

It's cool that all the samples are from actual old tapes, or at least they sound like it. Sandisons or not, this EP is something I like a lot.

Kincaid someplace in EVERY TOWN I have ever lived in--USA.not giving the Scots as a race enough credit there.

Bocpages still alludes to the possibility. Lame.
