Ambient BoC?
I think, with their new album they should head in the ambient direction. I would love to hear more tracks like Echus and Corsair. Not sure if that's 'ambient' but I would love to see them go in that direction. Rather than guitar. IMO Even thought Dayvan Cowboy and Peacock Tail are absolutely MINT, I think BoC has more potential in the other direction. Besides, synths are more nostalgic!
it's been 4 years since TCH, and nearly 3.5 since Trans Canada Highway. i think it's pretty safe to say at this point that it's near impossible to predict what direction they're going in - so i wouldn't necessarily expect more guitar-oriented stuff.
but i definitely agree about more ambient/sweeping synths and nostalgia. here's hoping!

I suspect something new in the direction of drums...
something really crazy, unpredictable, and off the wall
the last lp was just simple drum beats, almost cheesy drum beats, but they fit perfectly
and the last ep was more sequencer stuff, and really electronic-like in my opinion (skyliner, left side drive)
my prediction is something really new to electronic drums
something that mixes and fuses melody and drums, sorta like the sequencer lines throughout skyliner and left side drive, but taken to the next level.
perhaps like oscar see through red eye, random bits of chaotic sounding sequence riffs
but layers in a way that nothing seems separated, and a whole linear based direction is laced through the whole song.

i think youre on to something. perhaps the drum circle thing at the end of the good friday remix is an indication?Shadowshocker wrote:I suspect something new in the direction of drums...

Ambient! Yes! bring it on!
"i think youre on to something. perhaps the drum circle thing at the end of the good friday remix is an indication?" I definitly think so
Like Last Walk Around Mirror Lake remix was a real indication of TCH.
I do love a bit of anticipation for the completely unknown. Personally I'd like to see more of a Geogaddi-style mix. A combination of glorious rising melodies and downright fucking creepy stuff I'd not wanna listen to in the dark. But whatever comes next I think it's going to be a new direction. Bring it on.
I'll see you when the sun sets east, don't forget me.

exactly! and that song had an interesting, funky approach. It sounded like there was more live instrumentation, with the bass and stuff. and that's something they've been talking about as well. I am getting the feeling it will be something darker, just because of all this nuclear dawn stuff. But I would be psyched if it was in the style of the good friday remix. Speaking of vocals, do you think it's them singing Seven Forty Seven? The "aaahhh"s that come in the later part of the song. I'd be into stuff like that, but I'm not sure how I feel about lyrics. I think it would kill the joy of finding your own interpretations.Archrival wrote:I agree!Shadowshocker wrote:I suspect something new in the direction of drums...

I'm in two minds about the whole Nuclear Dawn thing. Part of me is thinking "oh god I hardly want another album telling me how shit the world is, how futile we are, imminent apocylpse blah blah blah" and the other part is thinking "awesome! BoC would somehow make it sound cool and exciting!"
if you are reading this you are spending too much time at your computer. go outside and get some fresh air.
i would love the next album to be in the same vein as last walk, its such an incredibly beautiful song!Joebot Kill wrote:exactly! and that song had an interesting, funky approach. by far the most menacing boc track for me. takes me right back to my childhood - my dad used to play old vhs of huge machinery and explosions of vast amounts of rock every so often, deep analog synthesizer pads rumbling in the background. anyhow...i used to love taking apart the layers of this song when on drugs - its incredible what's buried in this track. pressure pressure pressure...Tekmosis wrote:bleak. wrote:ambient boc would be lovely, i'm hoping for something different to be honest, i cant really listen to a lot of the darker boc songs these days!
The part in You Could Feel The Sky where the guy screams and moans... in a dark basement alone, during a heat wave...
