MDG says they're in the late stages of these releases... what do late stages actually entail? Would it be like mastering, or artwork, or even thinking up names?? I have no clue about what actually happens after songs are finished and compiled as for an internet musician, all there is left to do is upload it.

I've only put out two releases on a professional basis, so my experience is limited...but, these are the big steps that typically have to be worked through after the tracks themselves (and overall tracklisting) are complete:

- General mastering for mp3s, CDs, etc.
- Mastering for vinyl (often the same as above) and vinyl test pressings
- Test printing for all artwork, sleeves, etc.
- Setting a release date, hopefully in a way that will maximize exposure (Warp prioritizes BoC)
- Coordinating a press/media strategy, including planning singles, possible follow-up EPs, etc.
- Creating and distributing any promotional items

Judging by MDG's responses, it seems likely that BoC are engaged in one of the steps listed above.

i'd wager they've spent the last 3 years mastering mp3s. they'll probably sneeze the artwork out in the last week.
