naw, the part from stalker the start of down III with the trains in the background and a glass being pushed around on a table (i think... maybe at the very end of RFDMII). the dog bit is earlier when you can hear it whimpering...

i just realised i've always imagined a dog pushing its empty bowl around to its dead owner which just seems to fit with the tone of that piece of music and the title i guess... maybe a little programmatic...

Apologies Infinite E - looks like I accidentally hijacked yer thread there fella, what with this SOTL/Stalker debate.

On the plus side I'm now checking out Stalker because regardless of the possible SOTL connection it looks like a cool movie. Cheers guys!

The ambient bit at the end of MBV's "To Here Knows When" from the Tremelo EP (as apposed to the Loveless version).

The sample of the guy chanting "Wake up, wake up, WAKE UP!!" at the beginning of the Orb's "Majestic" from UFOrb, with all of those jungle animals creating a ruckus in the background...wakes me up every time.

The bit where Yoni sings "it's a great sky to die under", from "A Sky For Shoeing Horses Under" on Alopecia....lovely song, but that bit is especially beautiful.

The first 25 seconds or so of Animal Collective's "Daily Routine" from Merriweather, where that Hammond-ish organ speeds up wildly and crashes into the beginning of the song...it's a brilliant little intro.

Starting around the 1:54 mark on Clark's "Totem Crackerjack" where that machine-like sound starts ramping up and up and up...didn't care for much of the rest of the album (maybe it'll grow on me) but this was truly one of those "Warp" moments (IE: when I hear something that's so out there that it's just pure pleasure to be exposed to it...like the first time I heard "Bucephalus Bouncing Ball").

The random quack heard at 5:14 in Last Rushup 10 by The Tuss.

The bit in Buddy Holly by Weezer when the song goes from "What's a matter babe, are you feelin' blue?" to the guitar solo gets me very time.

Also love The Chemical Brothers Sunshine Underground when the music builds up to the crescendo of a faster rhythm

Pounding by the Doves when the song builds up to go into the chorus but instead goes into a guitar solo (Of sorts)

If you liked it I'd recommend checking out some others by Tarkovsky (if you haven't already seen them), 'Mirror' especially.

Anyway;

Yeah, I know I have heard that somewhere before. Its been driving me nuts trying to remember where it is from. Im sure its part of the intro to a childrens tv program from when I was like 6 or something (so, in the ball park of 15 years ago.)

I love Venetian Snares but I don't think I had heard that song before. I wonder if that quote has anything to do with the poem "A Blessing" (last lines): http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-blessing/

I came to this thread to mention the part where the piano comes in during "Humectez La Mouture" by SOTL. That bit is just insane to me for some reason, it catches me off guard every time. Something about the distant vocal sample at 3:37 is also really cool.
