Anyway, I pretty much walk home every night after work. It reminds me of some of BoC's more moody tracks. Corsair, Smokes Quantity and Oirectine come to mind.

Every time I see a sun refraction in a lens it seems to be hexagonal. I LOVE hexagons

This is due to how the shutter is shaped. It has 6 overlapping screens that close, thus making a hexagon when it opens to let the light in.

I kinda figured it had something to do with the lens.

Wow man, these are tight. Completely reminds me of some footage I watched of my grandparents on vacation in bermuda back in the 70's. He just turned his camera on at random times throughout the trip, nothing special - but definitely the same vibe.
