This can go along with the previous topic that about your favorite Boards of Canada song....

I guess you can say that the main reason I (amongst many, I'm willing to assume) love Boards of Canada is because of the oddly relaxed and nostalgic feeling I get when I listen to them and the mental pictures that form when you close your eyes and listen to them.

I'm just curious to know if any of you out there get these same feelings and/or mental pictures.

Which song is it and what do you see?

Yah! I was hoping someone would post a topic like this cause I'm an expert in this field.
Heres a few to name:

TBAR-an island........what? That's all!

A&O-Kinda silly, but the begining reminds me of eating at the cafeteria as a kid. Blank, white tables and suspisiously green looking tator tots.

The Campfire Headphase always reminded me of an overnight camp trip I took in 6th Grade. Now that I think about it, it almost goes together perfectly. ITRV is me getting on the bus. Chromakey Dreamcoat is all the sights I see on the way there. I actually remember seeing a giant pecock tail in the Nature Center. Constants are Changing is me feeling homesick. STBD is when I played night tag. TFTCE is packing up and saying goodbye, and Farewell Fire is the long trip home.

Even though those visuallizations are about 1/100ths of all the ones I see, this is becoming a long post.

Woah, thats weird. Ever since I listened to the track for the first time, I've always had that image in my head at the beginning of the track.

the in a beautiful place out in the country reminds me of a wooden cabin, a few objects such as paintings on the wall, candles...i can place myself inside the image as if i were actually there.

music is maths and an eagle in your mind - something along the lines of this - http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2337/253 ... 9b1c_o.jpg the grids at the bottom at least. as the song progresses, what i call castle like images appear. something along the lines of the disney castle i suppose, but extremely abstract.

once listened to BOC on mushrooms. incredible adventure...they sure know what their doing.

The most clear mental image i get from listening to boc is in kid for today.

I see myself in my childhood, an early morning in the autumn. I'm in my home on the countryside, looking out through a window.
Rain is pouring down heavily outside and raindrops are slowly sliding down the window pane leaving transparent pathways behind.

I don't know how this association projects in my mind, but I get a very calm and peaceful feeling from it.

see ya later - robots falling in love. the sound of modified bells(?) beginning at 00:53 and those that come after, also beginning at 1:33, are the sounds the robots make when talking to eachother. (ala romeo and juliet) near 2:20 there is a heated argument. you know how they show robots talking by illuminating their mouth area? thats how imagine it looking. robots falling in love and meeting the disapproval of their family

For me....

"Satellite Anthem Icarus"....hiking up Boulder Creek on a warm spring/summer afternoon.

"Gyroscope"....sitting in front of a huge communications console doing radio/frequency tests, hands flying from switch to switch, dial to dial, attempting contact.....actual memory from my military days.

"Wildlife Analysis" & "I Saw Drones".....I'm sure this goes for everybody, but watching old National Film Board of Canada films in elementary school science class.

"Dayvan Cowboy"....standing on top of the Qwest Tower overlooking the skyline of Denver at sunrise."

sunshine recorder - sitting somewhere windy, probably a big hill. i got here after following these children whom i don't know, and they keep telling me this is "a beautiful place."

Corsair always puts an image in my head of being on a mountain top while the sunset turns everything red, orange, and brown, and it gets darker and darker but it's taking forever, and I'm at once wishing it would just go, but dreading the end of the day.

Most of the songs from Boc Maxima do this to me. Whitewater especially gives me this sort of eerie nostalgic feeling that for some reason reminds me of random images from my early childhood. Also, the end of the 7 minute version of Happy Cycling gives me another strange feeling. It's as if I'm remembering a time and place I once knew, even if it's somewhere I've never existed before. Tough to explain, but a wonderful feeling.

Well, I get images of silver unicorns on rollerskates, which are also beatboxing the rhythm to the track when I listen to Gyroscope. Actually, I get this image when I listen to any music at all, except for Jazz, when I see people in panda suits dancing the Charlston, and juggling multi-coloured antlers in an ice-rink. Still I expect this is all perfectly normal, being a perfectly normal individual!

Ataronchronon is what really made me think that BoC had something more than music in mind when they made their music. It fits perfectly into one day when I was laying down in the middle of a sod field, in the middle of fall, cool/crisp, overcast, and windy. It was really weird to hear the song, and immediately think about that situation (no pervious connection between them)

and it also reminds me of water.....

That is exactly what I'm talking about! When I first heard BoC it just seemed like really relaxing and oftentimes complicated, layered music. After I spent time listening to every song individually through a really good set of headphones (and alone, not distracted by anything else), I came to that same conclusion that they are doing more than making music. To me it seems they are making a solid visual/sonic art that reflects a certain moment or point in time that all of us have experienced through which the music is just a medium.

Planes and contrails, sex, worms and death, vandalism, nature and numbers, sanity and madness are some of the hypnogoic things flash over my eyes as i listen to boards. An eagle in my mind makes me think of graveyards and vandalism and being a loony destructive youth, ahh good times.

When I first Listened to HFTL, I pictured on of those blond weird looking ladies on most of the old coke signs from the 50-60's, leaned out with her hand on her ear, like she wants you to tell her something. Oh, and I saw alot of red and black.
