To reiterate what someone else said on a previous page...
Kid For Today..
Kinda gives me a feeling like I'm in a huge house with large bookcases and high ceilings.. Open rooms.. Almost like a big two story building, but everything is cut out and made into two rooms: one upstairs, and one downstairs, but it's all kind of one room.. (I guess like a two-story mall)..
filled with elegant things.
but, outside is a barren, apocalyptic wasteland.

but, i feel safe.

Maybe you should be seeing an psychologist, or someone that interprets dreams. Because to me troubled visions like that means there are issues to be solved. I wouldn't wanna have visions like that spinning around in my head when i hear beautiful music.

I want to see a psychologist/psychiatrist really badly. Mostly a psychiatrist though.

That's probably the only way I could get a clear answer, other than by me diving into the realm of my subconscious and searching for the direct answer, which I know, but I'm going to tell because I don't have a fully concrete answer yet.

In order to find out why I feel this way to this song you'd need to explore many of the most outer aspects of the universe of my subconscious. Trace back things I've seen, sounds I've heard, compile them. When they relate to each other, an emotion is sparked by realization of the connection as it becomes conscious- an emotional interpretation I suppose. The thing is, I've never personally seen anything so disturbing as the thing I've described, I've only read about an innocent family man being murdered by a couple of selfish bastards with a hammer. The very thought of it disturbed me so much- going from having a fresh and happy life that seems limitless in the possibilities one could imagine, to that, all because a couple of stupid men wanted to pleasure themselves in another's pain, without even the thought of the man's suffering and deprivation of his formerly euphoric life. Why Amo Bishop Roden reminds me of this, however, is a mystery to me for now. If you as a person cannot understand why such a thing was reminded of in my mind as I listened to the song, you'd have to personally take control of my mind and study the atmosphere of my subconscious.

Sorry if I didn't make any sense, I forget everything I typed as I typed it.

Joebot Kill wrote:i took some acid and listened to mhtrtc a few days ago. i told myself i wouldnt post about it because i think the whole point of BoC is for it to be taken at a personal level. but it's also fun to talk about this kind of stuff.

i cant really recount for all of it, but, some songs brought up a feeling of some kind of bond with my mom. like being a kid and being with her. other songs brought about abstract geometrical, isometric shapes, repeating in a sort of pattern. it looked like the game marble madness, if anyone has ever played that. someone mentioned roygbiv feeling like crying form happiness. i totally get that. i saw my ex girlfriend, though i'm not surprised by that one bit. the song is like this short fleeting moment of bittersweet sunlight. like a break in the clouds for a couple of minutes. a lot of it really reminds me of being a kid growing up in a shitty city and watching sesame street. wow, big surprise there!
Boards of Canada + psychedelics= great emotional experience.

I always get an overwhelming image of thick fog and steam and mist when I listen to Kid For Today, expecialy the first time I listened to it. Also the first time I listened to Iced Cooly I immedeatly pictured someone in a lawn chair with a fancy drink listening to a cassete player by a pool, plus I see alot of yellows and pinks and gray when I listen to that song.

ahem, i have a longer list i will post:

1969:
the formation of a star... glowing gases forming an electric blue star, and it turns into a supernova, explodes, collapses on itself and forms a black hole that wreaks havoc on its surrounding solar system.

Diving station:
a subway cavern filled with ghosts of the past... the ghosts are a light sepia colour. when the piano fades away near the end of the song, everything fades away into the black

Satellite Anthem Icarus: a sattelite (no duh!) sending out signals along with a a chorus of chirping space stations, and space shuttles. in the outro, it shows a close up of hubble and you can see through it's camera

1986 Summer Fire:
this song makes me want to cry, it reminds me of a lone man with a dead flower on a tiny, lone island, and then (think of google earth) the view zooms out, and it turns out, that the earth is entirely water, and he is all alone

oirectine:
kinda wierd, but this song makes me think of the immune system, and i can see the flu reproducing, killing the host cells and then the killer t-cells go in an army and battle it out, and then when the song ends, it all ends and it returns to normal.

Aquarius:
me, when i was a kid playing at the beach, and when the counting starts, it turns into a rhythmic game of hide and go seek, and i find a new room, filled with all of my childhood dreams, which has fountains running rainbow water, a pretty night sky, a telescope and a space ship filled with candy and toys.

Sixty-ten:
creepy deep-sea diving. need I say more?

ROYGBIV:
i see a future, filled with shiny robotic humans, along with real ones, walking with suit cases, and all in white one-piece uniforms, walking in a futuristic white city with oddly-shaped round sky-scrapers, with flying cars

Sir Prancelot Brainfire- A bunch of friends in a group that are in a bus. They are riding off into the distance back to their home after they had accomplished a very hard task. They feel like energy is sliding from their body, and all they can do is just smile and nod because they knew that they just pulled off some bad*** s***

Kid for Today- A child is doing a math worksheet. He is about ten years old, and doesn't hate math, but it's not his favourite thing in the world. The world starts to blur around him as he begins to lose his interest in the numbers, and just before he can make himself wake, he drifts off into sleep.

Amo Bishop Roden (continued from above) his mind switches gears and starts having a dream, nothing makes sense, but he can hear voices, whispers from the universe. It's the kind of sleep that you have when you haven't slept for a day or two, the kind where the dreams blossom over and over, and suddenly it stops, and he is back in the real world, where he is drooling slightly over his worksheet.

Music is Math- A room full of engineers, working with sound as a device to protect their city. You can see people drawing graphs, turning knobs, and plotting on a map. They have to defend their city from sound attacks that would entirely crumble their city to pieces, so they work tirelessly to make sure that the frequencies that they are putting out exactly match those of the incoming frequencies.

Happy Cycling- A person is bycicling down a street. The buildings are colorful, but all Boards-ish colors (you know what I mean, heavily saturated luminescent reds greens blues and yellows, and also shades of turquoise). This person is very serious about biking and is trying to conquer his normal speed. He's listening to music, (maybe this track, but I don't know what it is) and is timing it to when he's going to put his huge burst of speed in. He starts concentrating, and checks what time the song is on in his pocket. It's almost to the climax. He builds up the adrenaline in his body and forces his mind to keep cool, Heart on Fire, Mind on Ice. Then, the climax comes, and in a change of gear completely flies down the street, and coming up is downward slope. He picks up the speed and still pedals down the 30 degree hill, the wind flying past his face and completely numbing his perception of reality. The world looks like it's in a tube, centered around his bycicle, so much so he doesn't notice the makeshift ramp that someone left on the large hill, and takes off it, in freefall though he doesn't panic, he just lets it slide, but he never landed, he just kept on flying, off into the distance.

Hey, thanks! I would write more...but it's really really hard. Like, when I think about Boards sometimes I can only think in colors and s*** like that, and then there are others where there's to many things going on at once. Although, if I had the money to do it, I would make a music video for every single song that I liked...just because my head does that to me. Puts everything into a video-type thing.

Yeah...most likely. I remember when I was a kid I would sit down and write scripts to music videos...kinda like this.

Just cos he sees that in his head does not necessarily mean that he has a problem.

Indeed, but to me seeing horrible visions like this qualifies as a problem itself.

True. Yet, I too have had strange, scary images when I listen to certain songs. I wouldn't say that it would be something like this, but...it's the same kind of principle.

I embrace it though, it allows me a great deal of creativity when it comes to art and whatnot.

I do have some mental problems, but they're not exactly ones that would influence such things as far as I know...

sometimes at random intervals i'll get a flashing mental image of myself either murdering or raping someone i'm talking to, usually someone i really like or even love. it goes away lightning quick, and i usually tell myself just not to encourage it by paying any attention to it. i'm a horrible human being.

I hear you. Sometimes I've thought very, very disturbing sexual things about people who I would never , ever want to even think about like that. It could happen when I hug them goodbye, or when I see them. It's even happened with my own friends and family before. Sometimes I'll even think of the "n" word whenever I see a black person.

My guess is that it happens to everyone eventually, and it's a representation that there usually is something inside that people hide because they are embarrassed and ashamed by it.

ok lets say I think of or visualize the N word when I see the African.

how would I block or delete this? can I reprogram?

bonus question : how do you think this response originated in you?

If I tried really hard, I could reprogram, but it's too hard to do just because I want it out of my head. If I started saying the word, then I would have a problem (like tourettes) but I don't have that much of a problem right now, save for feeling very ashamed of myself.

Bonus Question: 4chan... and plus the fact that my mom and dad are slightly racist.

Note: I can't blame the sexual thing on 4chan though. That happened to me before I started going there, and has affected me for a while.
