They inspire me constantly. Not stylistically, as is evident in how different my music is from theirs. But their attitude - that of the Do-It-Yourself artist concerned chiefly with self-expression - spurrs me on to create music way more than BoC's does. I remember reading one of their interviews earlier this year, where they basically said, if you feel inspired to make something, just do it, do it anyway you can. Don't concern yourself with anything but what interests you artistically, throw away all other influences - money, musical precedent, the possible opinions of others, copyright law, everything.
Their words inspired me develop the idea of picking up my old tape recorder and just fucking around on my guitar in the wilderness with friends about me, recording all our conversations and the notes i and my friends play - whether any of it makes any musical or aesthetic sense at all, or not - until the tape is done. Then ripping it from the tape to my computer and distributing it freely, and doing it again! I plan to organise this in the near future.
EDIT: Another awesome thing that I love about TG is that they are bound by almost no restrictions - for instance, listening to D.O.A., you get the impression that they are this hardcore, dark-ass, raw sounding industrial experimental group concerned with the death of the human spirit in an increasingly polluted world (multiple senses of the word 'pollute' are invoked here), then comes a song like AB/7A, which is TG saying..."We like ABBA!" No shit! <3 them all.
