The Official PS3 Thread
I searched and could not find an official PS3 thread. Only talk of it's craze at launch and such.
So here it is folks. Talk about your favorite games, trophies you've earned, experiences you've had, problems you've had, and recommend games too.
I've had my PS3 since launch day back in november of '06. Never had a single problem with it. It's only ever froze twice playing Fallout 3. But I heard that Fallout 3 freezes on any PS3 anyways.
As for trophies, I am a junkie. Must...get...more...need...fix... I don't have a hell of a lot yet as you can see in my signature. But my mission is to catch up with Joyrex who has like 715 trophies!!
I highly recommend MGS4, Uncharted 1 and 2, Fallout 3, Mirror's Edge (which is only $20), Bioshock (which is only $20!!), Skate 1 and 2, Star Wars The Force Unleashed, and Dead Space. And of coarse the Guitar Hero franchise is a pleasure of mine too.
BTW who is Orange_Wedge??

I played the demo for it. It seems like a good game. I don't know if I'd pay full price for it though.Synthestesia wrote:Been playing a hell alot of Burnout Paridise. Anyone here play it too?
I just bought Battlefield: Bad Company for $18. I definitely can get used to buying games for $20 and under.

One game I can recommend to someone who wants a real challenge and likes a game that takes thought and strategy to accomplish is Demon's Souls. You really have to think about how to approach enemies. The game is tough most of the time, but I have never ever played a game where I was frustrated and addicted at the same time. Definitely check it out.
Besides that I've just been playing A LOT of multiplayer in Modern Warfare 2. Multiplayer needs some fixing though.
Burnout Paradise is probably one of the best racing games you can get for the PS3. Some parts of the map are poorly designed for a racing game though.
I hope Heavy Rain is good. Besides God of War III its the only game I am looking forward to possibly buying on the first day of release.
My psn id is dostoyevsky

bought a used skate2 to play on other people's systems and am very, very satisfied. ended up also with EA NHL and Dead Space, a win-win, though I almost launched Dead Space into a snowbank upon the asteroids part. good stuff. looking forward to skate3.

Yeah, the videos for Heavy Rain looks like it'll be good. And I definitely hope it will be. And yeah GoW3 is gonna be sweet.NewBattery wrote:I hope Heavy Rain is good. Besides God of War III its the only game I am looking forward to possibly buying on the first day of release.
Yeah, that asteroids part was hell. Took me 3 tries to beat it!dave_from_2001 wrote:and Dead Space, a win-win, though I almost launched Dead Space into a snowbank upon the asteroids part.

Had my PS3 for nearly three years, bought it in the UK on release day. Happy happy day that was
Am non't using it for gaming as much as I used to, it's more of a multi-purpose box now. Big on using it as DVD / BR player and for BBC iPlayer which works great on it. And also a great device for playing iTunes (Medialink is installed on my Macbook) and DIVX rips over wifi.
Gaming-wise I have a couple of weaknesses. GTA4, Saints Row 2 etc. Playing Warhawkfor as long as I can remember, and a bit of a weakness for COD. Finally bought Modern Warfare 2 yesterday.
If you feel like smashing me under the wheels of a tank or knocking me out of the skies with a guided missile (I'm not brilliant at these things), my PSN id is nlogax.

Had my PS3 for a few months now and loving it! Uncharted 2 is one of the best games I've ever played, and have just started the first one now. I've got the UK 60gb version which is capable of playing PS2 games, and as I never owned at PS2 I'm currently catching up with Metal Gear 3, Okami and the God of War series. My only gripe is that online isn't as good as it is on the 360, simply because it's slower and often a lot of updates are needed which download at a snails pace...but hey, at least it isn't 40 quid a year like XB Live! Really looking forward to MAG too, enjoyed the beta highly, it's a MW2 beater imo (in terms of fun online play.)

Ya, as for the PS2 thing. I'm lucky enough to have waited outside Walmart from the wee hours in the morning to purchase a PS3 on launch day. So my PS3 plays PS2 games no problem. In fact it upscales the games and smooths the edges too.

I bought the PS3 mainly for GTA IV and was about to sell it. Then I found out what a marvelous media centre it is. Now I hooked my PS3 to my home network and installed the PS3 Media Server on my PC. Now I have totall access to all my music(all data) in the living room.
Any recommendations for cool apps? Like cool theme's, backgrounds.. perhaps some hacks to modify the musicplayer? Or to be able to control the volume via the bluetooth remote control without turning on the TV to see it?
I've been after a last.fm plugin but can't seem to find any. It should be possible to stream MP or iTunes over the network but I can't make it work... any ideas?
